We decided it was time to take two of the best things and pair them – craft beer and grilled cheese sandwiches. We chose craft beers from our own backyard in Oregon and matched them with some of our favorite Tillamook Cheese Slices. After tasting each beer with each cheese, we decided to match them up based on taste and texture. We used our cheesy expertise to come up with the following delicious beer and grilled cheese pairings. Enjoy!
Note: We suggest two slices of cheese, and a simple bread like buttermilk or sourdough to let the cheese and beer truly be the flavor stars in these pairings.
Tillamook Medium White Cheddar Grilled Cheese + Full Sail LTD 04 Pale Bock Lager
Without strong maltiness or hoppiness, we wanted to make sure that the cheese didn’t overpower the flavor of the beer. Smooth Medium White Cheddar was the perfect match for this light beer!
Tillamook Pepper Jack Grilled Cheese + Pyramid Hefeweizen
With jalapeno peppers sprinkled throughout the Pepper Jack, this pairing hosts some firey bites. Don’t worry though, your tongue will rest easy after a refreshing swig of Hefeweizen. This wheat ale delivers a distinct smooth flavor paired excellently with the soft and creamy Monterey Jack base.
Tillamook Garlic White Cheddar Grilled Cheese + Bridgeport Crystal Dry-Hopped Pale Ale
The moment we tasted Bridgeport Crystal Dry-Hopped Pale Ale, we knew it had the powerful body to stand up to a one of strongest flavored cheeses. Tillamook Garlic White Cheddar has a rich base blended with a distinctly smooth roasted garlic flavor. This power duo will make your taste buds sing! Kissing after consumption is not recommended.
Tillamook Colby Jack Grilled Cheese + Deschutes Brewery Inversion IPA
India Pale Ales (IPAs) are known for their hoppy and bitter flavor. The boldness of the IPA is calmed by the creamy mild mixture of Colby Cheese and Monterey Jack found in the World’s Best Colby Jack!
Tillamook Sharp Cheddar Grilled Cheese + Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter
Porters are dark, complex and well hopped, fit for a well-aged cheddar. This sophisticated pairing embraces the creaminess of our Sharp Cheddar to balance the bitter notes of the beer.
