In honor is Creamsicle Day, I set out on a quest to create the most delicious orange soda float – a creamsicle float, if you will! With four variations of orange soda and a carton of Tillamook Old-Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream, I was ready to go.

Hansen’s Mango Orange
Don’t be fooled by this soda’s clear color! The soda itself is pretty well carbonated, but the float had a smooth tangerine like taste that was easy to sip on. I would drink this one again for sure!

IZZE Sparkling Clementine
This drink is pure fruit juice with sparkling water. The clementine flavor was really strong, and because it’s real fruit juice, the acid curdled the ice cream a little (don’t worry, it still tasted good!). The float didn’t taste like a traditional creamsicle, but it was still very refreshing.

Dry Blood Orange Soda
This soda, which hails from Seattle, is the most seltzer-like to begin with (but only 50 calories!) Because the soda was so light in taste, the float wasn’t very flavorful and it was my least favorite of the bunch. The ice cream totally overpowered the delicious natural flavor of the soda. I added a squeeze of fresh orange after a few sips, which really helped! It tasted like an Italian cream soda with a hint of orange.

Henry Weinhard’s Orange Cream Soda
Ok – this one was a bit of a no brainer – I had a good feeling that orange cream soda would taste like just that. The float was really sweet after drinking the lighter variations, but delivered exactly what it promised!

What kind of orange soda will you try in a float to celebrate National Creamsicle Day!?

Orange Fanta!! It's a classic.

How good does that look? We don't get anything like this in Australia. I would so love to try some.
