I love Tillamook ice cream and i am oh so sad that you quit making the pistachio ice cream. I drove out to Tillamook specifically for the pistachio. Are you ever going to bring it back?

I miss my favorite ice cream. Udderly Delicious. Does udderly chocolate come close? I haven't seen it at our store. Mega Foods in Woodburn, Or.

Hi there, Philip! What's the name of the ice cream that you're missing? We've never had a flavor called Udderly Delicious. Let me know what flavor you're having trouble finding and I'll do my best to help you out!

SO, I am unhappy also. If I read your website correctly, the only place I can get your Cinnamon Banana Bliss is at your Oregon factory. Is that correct? I have been wondering why I have not been able to find it in any local stores for the past 2-3 months.

Hi there Mike! Ah yes...Cinnamon Banana Bliss! It was a Featured Flavor earlier this year and was only in stores for a short period of time. Featured Flavors are those that we create and test out to see how they do. I'm guessing it wasn't as popular as some of our other flavors, so now it's a Cheese Factory exclusive. We do have Banana Split Ice Cream that you should be able to find in stores. Sorry to bring you bummer news. Hopefully you can find another flavor that you'll like just as much!

Last year I bought Tillamook Peppermint Ice Cream at my local store, now I cant find it anywhere? Why is that???? I wait all year for it!!!

Hi Lisa,

Tillamook Peppermint Candy Ice Cream was a Featured Flavor last year. That means it was only available in stores for a limited time. This year, our Featured Flavor for the holidays is Pumpkin Ice Cream. The only place to get Peppermint Candy Ice Cream this year is at the Tillamook Cheese Factory. If you're able to make it to the Cheese Factory you'll still be able to get a scoop, or two!

I am very disappointed that the Cinnamon Banana Bliss ice cream is only available at the cheese factory. Although, I live in Oregon, I cannot drive up there to purchase this VERY VERY delightful flavor Tillamook has created. Is there anyway it can be brought back by popular demand? If enough people write in to request that a Feature Flavor is made available all of the time, will it happen? This is one of the best new ice cream flavors our family has ever tasted. PLEASE PLEASE make it a regularly manufactured and distributed flavor!! We will buy it every week, and from the looks of some of the other comments I read here, so will many others! Yay. Good job! Tillamook created a unique flavor combo that people LOVE! Give the people what they want! :)

Hi Michele,

Happy to hear that you love Cinnamon Banana Bliss Ice Cream so much! I wish I could tell you that it could be brought back by popular demand, but I don't know if that is possible... sorry I don't have better news. Hopefully you can find another flavor that you like just as much!

I just discovered the Cinnamon Banana Bliss at my local grocery store. There were about half a dozen containers. Judging from reviews, I best stock up. Exp. date is 03/12.

Hi there, Diane! Well, you're a lucky gal! Why do I say this? Because Cinnamon Banana Bliss is no longer available. It was a featured flavor and only available for a short time. We no longer make it, or distribute it. You must have found a hidden stash — the absolute last of the last! I'd say if you like it, buy them all because you most likely won't find this flavor again! I'm so glad you like it!

Holy Moses. I'm convinced you're Caramel toffee pecan has crack in it, because it's just sooooo addictive. My favorite Tillamook flavor and always consistent and wonderful. Thank you for creating such wonderful ice cream flavors. I hope Top Food and Fred Meyer expand their flavor selections to include more of the flavors featured on your list.

And as always, a trip to your Cheese Factory is an awesome event. I always purchase a cone for the dogs too. They love it!

Any chance pumpkin ice cream will be back in grocery stores this year? Yours is absolutely the best, and Tillamook should consider making it a regular seasonal flavor -- I know so many people who love it.

My wife is upset with y'all. She's pregnant with a craving for pepermint ice cream. I see you have it at your factory. Can a regular customer purchase a 3 gal tub of that stuff at the factory?

Hi Jonathan,
I hate to bear the bad news, but Peppermint Ice Cream, which was a seasonal flavor, is sold out at the Cheese Factory. At this time, I'm not sure if the flavor will make an appearance next year, but it looks like your wife may have to settle for another tasty flavor to satisfy her cravings. Please let me know if I can help locate any other flavors for you!

I live in Washington, and only visit the cheese factory in Oregon 1-2 times a year. I love, love, LOVE the Peppermint Candy ice cream and get it every time I visit. I know it was seasonal, but both i and my family love it. I really wish it were able to be bought in-store. My parents were super-disappointed a few years back because Tilly stopped making some chocolate-orange ice cream, it was their favorite. we are big supporters- cheese, as well as most yogurt and ice cream come from Tillamook. A new favorite in the freezer this very moment is vanilla choco. chip ice cream! Yuuuuuuuummy!

Tillamook ice cream has become very special to my family. Several years ago, my young 66 yr old dad was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We were fortunate to have him with us for 2 more years. As chemo, radiation, and the tumor took it's toll on his body and taste buds, he struggled to find items that he could taste and enjoy. He was a lover of ice cream and dark chocolate so the moment he first tasted Tillamook Mudslide, it was sheer bliss. In his last few months, he had a bowl of Mudslide every day. The night before he passed he could no longer swallow liquid so we crushed up his pills and spoon fed him his Tillamok Chocolate Mudslide with the crushed medicine mixed in. He passed away the next morning with some remnant of Mudslide on his lips. It was a great comfort to our family that he was able to derive enjoyment and pleasure in this small way during his final days. I now eat Mudslide when I am really missing my Dad and it gives me the same comfort that he enjoyed. Thank you for being a part of these sweet memories.

Hi, I've been enjoying your Caramel Butter Pecan for sometime now. Well a couple of days ago I went to my Von's to get my caramel butter pecan. There was some new looking packaging on my butter pecan carton.I just thought you were trying out a new look. Well i got home and dug right in. Wow the caramel flavor was way stronger that i ever noticed and the sweet creamy taste was not there. Well I couldn't figure out what was going on.So after going over the carton I noticed it said Caramel Butter Pecan MACCHIATO. I went back to the store and found a carton in the back of plain caramel butter pecan. Got it home and dug in.Thank goodness I was right. The frozen food guy was not there. Tell me your not discontinuing the regular one.He probably made a mistake in ordering.I hope so . I'll talk to him tomorrow. Is there anything you can tell me that I should know? Would love some feedback. Thanks so much.

I don't ever write reviews or complaints, but I am SO DISAPPOINTED with the changes to Coffee Almond Fudge. The ice cream base flavor is so flat it has ruined the best ice cream I have ever had! We are a family who always has 2-4 half gallons of ice cream in the freezer at any given time. While we really like the new Hazelnut Salted Caramel, CAF was the ONE constant in our freezer. Unless it returns to it's former glory, that position will change. REALLY disappointed. I appreciate your attempt to be more natural I'm your recipes, but let's be real - of we are eating ice cream, we care more about the quality and FLAVOR than we do about it being "good for us."

I have been quite addicted to Caramel Butter Pecan Ice Cream. When you changed the label, it appears that you have changed the recipe. It has an artificial butter-scotch pudding flavor instead of the subtle, amazing butter flavor. This has been my evening treat for some time, while my husband has Mint Chocolate Chip (also different, but he likes the change). Is it time to start my diet? What a drag... I really hope you guys will reconsider the taste change. It went from seriously the most delicious thing to just ok. So disappointing.

May 17th, 2014 at 8:47 pm

Disappointed Rebecca

I purchased my favorite flavor of Tillamook ice cream yesterday, and when I opened it, it was a shock! It's white instead of the green color that it used to be, and I'm sorry to say that it just doesn't taste the same. I thought there was a mistake made with the batch, but when I came online to find contact info for Tillamook, I came upon this blog and saw similar comments about other flavors. Also about the artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners being changed to more natural ingredients.

I am so disappointed, and am sorry to say that I won't be purchasing any Tillamook ice cream flavors anymore, if this is what I have to look forward to with all flavors. We have purchased Tillamook exclusively for the last few years - usually the mint chocolate chip, but occasionally other flavors. I buy ice cream as a special treat, and let's be honest here - whether the ingredients are "natural" or not, it's never going to be "healthy".

I see the ingredients have changed from:

Cream, Nonfat Milk, Sugar, Chocolate (Sugar, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Processed with Alkali, Peanut Oil, Cocoa, Natural Flavor), Corn Syrup Solids, Contains 2% or Less of Natural Flavor, Artificial Color (Yellow 5, Blue 1), Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cellulose Gum, Mon- and Diglycerides, Polysorbate 80, Carrageenan.

To:

Cream, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Whole Milk, Condensed Skim Milk, Fudge Piece (sugar, coconut oil, cocoa (processed with alkali), peanut oil, cocoa, natural flavor, soy lecithin), Contains less than 2% of the following: Natural Flavors, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Cellulose Gum, Mono and Diglycerides, Polysorbate 80, Carrageenan.

It just tastes "off" now, and the color change doesn't help. The calorie content is practically the same, and the calories from fat is identical.

TL;DR - product change = sad & disappointed me.

My husband has purchased your coffee almond fudge ice cream for years; it is his favorite. I should say, was his favorite. The ice cream now tastes NOTHING like coffee. It has more of a watered down maple taste. He's changing to another brand in hopes the coffee taste will be better. I think changing this flavor was a very bad idea. BTW - I can't imagine there is anything natural about the current coffee flavor. It's not like any coffee I've ever had.

Confused Dorothy

I just read Disappointed Rebecca's comment. My problem is just the opposite.

Recently I started eating your mint chocolate chip ice cream and it was white and I switch to your brand for that reason (no artificial color). Yesterday I bought some and now it is green. And yes it taste different.

I have bought the ice cream at the same store every time so am wondering why I'm getting the green version now!

Confused New Customer,

Dorothy

white chocolate raspberry yum is amazing!! one problem. the amazing raspberry filling is only in the middle. So i end up eating out the middle of the container and have a bunch of boring vanilla ice cream that gets tossed out. Ideally you could put double the filling in there but if nothing else could ya at least spread it out. I have turned many friends onto this awesome flavor of ice cream and they all love it but have the same complaint.
thank you so much for making my favorite ice cream.
hope to see some changes.
have a great day!

I have had Coffee Almond Fudge for years, As it was our favorite. After getting some from Fred Meyer today I can honestly say it's not good. The" coffee" flavor is more of A Carmel flavor or something. It's just not good.
I see that you have reviewed your product and changed the ingredients but you should really go back to the drawing board because this mix isn't even close to the original.

Disappointed!!!

There is no ice cream better than Tillamook and I have been buying 6 1.75 qt cartons of Tillamook Coffee Almond Fudge per month ever since it was introduced. Yes, I was addicted to it. My most recent purchase was a major disappointment. The current version is not at all Coffee Almond Fudge. Rather it is pale with a weird insipid flavor. I initially thought that it was a labeling mistake, but now I know that I was mistaken. I am comparing the situation to Levis changing the design of their 505 jeans to the extent that I and thousands of others buy Carhartts. Please, please, please, bring back the former absolutely delicious recipe and relieve me of my DTs. Thank you.

Hi Dorothy,

Thanks for your comment! The new Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream that is white is in our new packaging. The green version that you purchased must have been in the old Tillamook Ice Cream packaging. The old packaging is being phased out, so the green ice cream won't be available for much longer. If you are looking for the new, white Mint Chocolate Chip, keep an eye out for our new packaging, which looks like this.

Thanks again for your question!

I put in a comment on your website at the "contact us" section. Then I went looking around and saw this blog. I too am very disappointed with the new Coffee Almond Fudge. Until you change it back, I will be buying another brand. I will of course continue to buy your white choc lemon bars from time to time. How about putting that in a regular ice cream flavor?

I think it is obvious you guys really screwed up the coffee almond fudge, I can take some coffee, grind it into powder and make a better coffee taste then we have in this new crap. It would be all natural. The plain fact is, there is no such coffee taste found at all, coffee it's self is natural. It is clear that some sort of production mistake has occurred ed. The flavoring in your coffee almond fudge is simply another flavor. It is not a light coffee flavor, it isn't even near the realm of coffee. If aliens brought this to me I would ask them if they even had coffee on their planet.

Ditto the comments about the coffee almond fudge, awful. I tossed it out. It tastes like (bad) maple to me. If I wanted that flavor I'd buy it! Either bring back the original coffee almond fudge, or change the name. It is no longer "coffee" or "fudge". I'll try it again in a few months. If it still tastes the same, I will not buy it again.

There seems to be a common theme with the lack of coffee flavor in the Coffee Almond Fudge. It had been our favorite, and we will not be buying it again until we hear that the coffee flavor has been improved to how it tasted previously. Please, please fix it!

I agree with Disappointed Rebecca. My husband and I have exclusively purchased your ice cream since moving out to Portland 7 years ago. Our favorites are Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Peanut Butter. We just opened our first container of Mint Chocolate Chip in the new packaging tonight, and were surprised to see white ice cream. We were happy to see the color change, but really disappointed when we tried the ice cream. This was our all-time favorite mint chocolate ice cream, and now it has no mint flavor and no real flavor at all. Please change it back, or offer both recipes, like how you offer several kinds of vanilla (french vanilla, old fashioned vanilla, and vanilla bean...Vanilla bean is our favorite.) I am scared to try the other flavors, for fear they are as disappointing as this one. I guess if you don't change it back, we will have to start a new search for a new brand. We definitely won't be buying this new mint chocolate chip again.

So sad. :-(

Hi Grace,

I'm so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent purchase of Tillamook Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. The only changes that we made to our Ice Cream flavors was removing artificial colors and ingredients in favor of using natural ingredients instead. All of your favorites, like Vanilla Bean, should still have the same flavor that you know and love! If you would like more information on these changes, please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations team at any time!

Same here - the new Coffee Almond Fudge....yuck. The old CAF was my 2nd favorite, after Chocolate, which has gotten really hard to find here in Boise for the past year or longer, at least. I've seen it once or twice at Albertsons, but it costs about $2 more than at the Winco where I usually shop. 3rd favorite, Rocky Mountain Mudslide: also not at Winco any more, it seems.
What is going on? I agree with the comments about why we love really good ice cream, and it isn't about dietary correctness, it's about the flavors! and the creaminess! It seems a lot of us loyal Tillamook Ice Cream lovers are disappointed, and starting to look at other options. Sad.

Hi John,

Thanks for your comment! I have great news, we changed the name of Supermix to Caramel Toffee Crunch! Next time you are at the store, look out for Caramel Toffee Crunch - it has the same vanilla ice cream with crunchy bits of cookies, toffee, pecans, almonds and chocolate all swirled with caramel that you loved from Supermix!

Where is the mocha almond fudge?? Have not been able to find it anywhere for the last couple months and am very sad! Please tell me that the coffee almond fudge is not replacing it. It taste like maple and I can't stand it! Want the mocha back and Safeway(who now is the only one I can find) does not cut it!

Hello , up until just yesterday was a loyal Tillamook Ice cream fan . We are living in a day of computers and technology which allows us to learn about products like yours and the ingredients that your manufactures add which either are either healthy or not for the consumers of your products . We have always just assumed that because it is a" Tillamook " brand that you would make things as fresh and healthy as possible . I noticed a texture difference in the ice cream I purchased . Its to fluffy to be what your ice cream use to be. You call it RICH AND CREAMY on your carton . It is not melting anything like it use to so I looked at the ingredients and sadly found that you are not only using one but 2 fillers . Microcrytalline Cellulose and cellulose .
After reading that most of these fillers are wood pulp I would like to know if this is the case with your products . Why cant you just be a strong leader and at least list the actual source that the fillers come from so any one with allergies will for sure know what it is that we are putting in our body. You owe that to your loyal consumers and future consumers . You do not need to taint your good name and reputation by adding undigestible waste in your lovely desert . I have shared this sad discovery on facebook and hope it helps educate others about this food additive which has no value to any one but the manufacturer to save money by serving sawdust with their ice cream . Please tell me what the cellulose that you use is...wood our other material . I am aware that there are many other companies that do the same but have great hopes that as an Oregonian for my entire life , I will see the day when companies like your's build their reputation by earning the trust of people like me who can sit down and simply enjoy America's favorite desert knowing that it is a pure and free from harmful ingredients . You have wonderful flavors and I will miss your products . Thank you Karen

Hi Karen,

Thank you for your question! Cellulose is a carbohydrate, and is the most common natural compound on Earth. It is often used in the food industry as an anti-caking agent, thickener, or source of fiber. At this time, we haven't found another natural ingredient that will provide the same texture for our Ice Cream that our fans know and love. I'm so sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the addition of cellulose to our Ice Cream. I see I am not the only one who dislikes the new healthier formulas for your ice cream. We all have the same opinions. I don't care so much about the color although the originals are much more appealing to the eye but the flavor changes are just unacceptable.... I expect your sales to go down dramatically and I hope it is a lesson learned. Stop trying to appease anyone other than your customers! The original Oregon Strawberry for perfection! I really miss the Mocha Almond Fudge flavor. A few months ago I went to Fred Meyer (where we do most of our shopping) and was looking for Tillamook's Mocha Almond Fudge in the freezers and could not find it. I figured that Fred Meyer was probably just out of it. Several more trips to Fred Meyer over the weeks yielded the same results: No Mocha Almond Fudge. We started getting Coffee Almond Fudge because it was close. It's good, but it's not Mocha-Almond-Fudge-good. I'm starting to forget what the Mocha Almond Fudge tastes like, but I remember the first time I tried Coffee Almond fudge, I didn't like it as much as the Mocha Almond fudge. Here I am eating Coffee Almond Fudge and wondering when Mocha Almond Fudge will come back so I looked it up online and don't see it among Tillamook Ice Cream flavors. Will it ever come back? Does Tillamook have seasonal ice creams?

My boyfriend and I recently went to the grocery store and both agreed that we wanted mint chocolate chip ice cream. When I pointed out that tillamook has one of the best mint chocolate chip ice cream he asked me if it was the green kind. I only eat the green kind so in confidence I told him yes so he agreed to get it. When we got home and opened it I was shocked and thought I got the wrong kind so I came on here to see if any changes were made and I guess there was. I guess I can deal with color change but I agree that it just doesn't taste the same anymore and the texture isn't the same. Boo :(

Please bring back Root Beer Float! I was very sad to find out that it was no longer available last year. I didn't even care that it was only found at the Cheese Factory! I even tried finding *other* brands that made it (gasp!) to no avail. I have turned to looking up recipes. I might just have to make it myself. Other then that, I do enjoy the new salted caramel hazelnut...but it's no Root Beer Float. =)
