One of Tillamook’s beloved ice cream flavors, Peppermint Candy has been retired to the Tillamook hall of fame. You know what they say: all good things must come to an end. Just because we don’t make this flavor anymore doesn’t mean you can’t whip up a batch and enjoy the familiar taste of Tillamook Peppermint Candy Ice Cream at home! All you will need is Tillamook Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, peppermint extract, a few candy canes and you’ve got a perfectly festive holiday treat!

2 cups Tillamook Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
½ teaspoon peppermint extract
4 candy canes, crushed

1. Scoop the ice cream in to a large bowl, and let it sit to soften for about 5 minutes.

2. Pour the extract and the crushed candy canes into the bowl, mix to combine.

3. Place the ice cream back in the freezer to harden for about 20 to 30 minutes.

4. Serve with a sprinkle of candy cane on top!

Hi Ginny,

Thanks for your question! While our ice cream hasn't made it as far east as Illinois, you might be able to find Tillamook Cheese at Dierbergs! Click here to see the location details. Please be sure to call ahead to make sure our cheese is in stock before you make any special trips. I hope you love it!

I have to say this is silly. Why not make it available during the holidays? Umpqua, Breyers and a couple others do but I would rather have Tillamook. I searched this year and see this. Disappointing. Umpqua it is.

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your feedback and suggestion. At this time, I don't know of any plans to bring Peppermint Candy Ice Cream back, even seasonally. I will certainly share your comment with the larger Tillamook team. We really do appreciate hearing consumer feedback like this.

Tillamook Peppermint was my all time favorite ice cream - any time of year! Other brands do not compare. Thank you for sharing a recipe. I will try it, but will still hope Tillamook will bring it back. For 10 years, living out of Oregon, and now home in Oregon again, I made a special trip to the coast in hopes of getting a scoop at the creamery. Sigh!

I am crushed beyond belief! No more Tillamook Peppermint candy ice cream? Not even at the dairy?! I am not celebrating the holidays anymore. I am officially going on a hunger strike! Boo...Boo...Boo! BTW Tillamook Dairy killed Santa. I still love your cheese tho.

Hi Hanna! I’m sorry to hear that you are disappointed we discontinued Peppermint Stick. We miss it too, but sometimes it is necessary to discontinue one flavor to make room for more. I’ll let our Product Development team know you would like to see it make a comeback!

All the best,

I agree! This should be offered seasonally. Not fair that we and our grand children cannot experience this.

Hi Sandi,

Sorry to hear you are disappointed our Peppermint Vanilla Ice Cream is not available year-round or seasonally! Our team decided to try new seasonal flavors so that our fans get to experience more new flavor combinations. There are currently no plans to bring this flavor back, but as always I will share the request with our Product Development team!

Hi Sharon,

This post is from 2013. We are not making this specific Peppermint Candy Ice Cream, but we are making White Chocolate Peppermint Bark Ice Cream again as a temporary seasonal flavor! It is the same peppermint ice cream we released last year. Here's the link to the description on our website:

Your peppermint I'ce cream was the tops! Your new white chocolate peppermint chocolate is not. Too rich instead of refreshing.
