During the holiday season each year, Tillamook employees have a tradition of working together to help support in-need families in our community. This year, when we learned that the Oregon Food Bank Tillamook County Services lost a critical donor of turkeys, making them short by about 200 turkeys for their holiday food baskets, we rallied our troops and created an employee Turkey Drive.
Tillamook promised to match each donation received by an employee. We received grocery store gift cards, cash and we even got a few frozen turkeys. On Thursday, December 12, we met up with representatives from the Food Bank, grabbed some grocery carts and filled them up with 119 turkeys and 81 hams!
Between our employee efforts and great pricing extended to us by our local Safeway and Fred Meyer stores, we were able to ensure that 200 families (approximately 800 to 1000 individuals) in Tillamook County would get to enjoy a holiday meal.
While food security and working with the Oregon Food Bank is always a top priority for us, we were so impressed by our dedicated employees and their generosity during the holidays.
