The obvious front runner is, of course, Super Bowl XLVI (46 for those who don’t speak Roman Numerals). The game pits God (alright, Tom Brady) against Eli Manning, the New England Patriots against the New York Giants and a potent Pats offense against a rough and tumble Giants defense. Kickoff is at 3:30p PST on NBC and the broadcast will dominate the airwaves. Evidence of this domination can be found in the price of :30 sec ads – around $3 million…each!! That’s a lot of money, which means you definitely have a lot of company over the air waves.
Frankly though, beyond the pomp and circumstance of the game day hype, the wardrobe malfunctions and ‘past their prime’ bands (Madonna is performing this year), the game has begun to play second fiddle. A mere spattering of decent plays in between commentary about how defense wins championships, but offense bought Tom Brady’s 20,000 sq. ft. house…errr palace.
If you really want to have a good party, I encourage you watch some of the REAL big game – the Puppy Bowl VIII. Yes, it is indeed a game that includes puppies, toy footballs and plenty of cuteness. This year there is even a Piglet Pep Squad and a Kitty Halftime Show. This game gets better and better each year! Just wook at the cuteness…wook!
