Asteria

Brand Ambassador with a love for all things spicy

Asteria, how do you like to eat Tillamook?

I love to put Tillamook Medium Cheddar and Pepper Jack cheeses (I love spicy!) in a grilled cheese sandwich or in a quesadilla.

Years eating Tillamook:

Two decades. When I was four, my parents decided to move our family up to Portland from Monterey, CA. We discovered delicious Tillamook Cheese as soon as we arrived in Oregon.

Favorite Tillamook products:

My favorite Tillamook Yogurt is Oregon Strawberry and my favorite ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip. I love picking out the rich, dark morsels that are swirled in creamy, refreshing mint ice cream. Hot Habanero Jack is my favorite cheese because I enjoy spicy foods - the spicier, the better.

Favorite way to eat Tillamook:

I manage to incorporate cheese into almost all my meals. I love making grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas. I also enjoy pairing slices of Sharp Cheddar with an apple and grapes. Tillamook Cheese is only made with the highest-quality milk so it tastes great with, in, or on anything.

Hobbies & Interests:

When I'm not telling people about how amazing and delicious Tillamook Cheese is, I like to watch food and travel shows, such as Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations. I also enjoy sitting poolside and reading fashion magazines while I soak up some sweet sunshine.

Cheesy Goodness Abounds at Dallas Burger Week

All together now!

As one of the latest additions to the Tillamook Loaf Love Tour team, I had heard all about Taco Week in Phoenix from the other brand ambassadors. And as a passionate foodie, I was thrilled when I learned there would be a Burger Week in Dallas! Despite the storm warnings and a fierce wind, the Tillamook team was not going to let the weather deter us from eating some tasty burgers. The only thing I wanted to be blown away by was each chef’s juicy, mouthwatering creation!

On our Day of Loaf we cruised through some wonderful Dallas neighborhoods in the Yums, and visited five local restaurants to try their delicious burgers, all of which beautifully decorated with Tillamook cheese. Many people were shocked and pleasantly surprised to see four adorable orange VW buses driving past their local hangouts. My favorite part of our Yum caravan was taking a brief detour through the gorgeous SMU campus. We even stopped to pass out smile sticks to a group of preschoolers; they could hardly contain their excitement when they saw the Yums! I definitely felt like a cheesy celebrity!

All of the driving made us quite hungry, and we visited several local restaurants to refuel. I made sure to savor every bite at every place we stopped. I never say “No” to a burger, and I’ve never met a burger I didn’t like! While all five were incredibly tasty, my personal favorite was the ½ lb. cheeseburger and fries at Neighborhood Services Tavern. It featured a juicy patty of delectable ground beef dressed with lettuce, tomato, sweet pickles, and caramelized onions – all nestled in a super soft and lightly toasted bun. Yum doesn’t even begin to cover it! It was a delicate balance of savory and sweet.

So, how do you like to dress up your burger? Share it with us on Facebook or Twitter, and be sure to enter the Burger Week contest. It ends tomorrow!
