Behind the Scenes: Food Loves Tillamook

It was such a fascinating experience shooting Tillamook’s latest TV campaign, affectionately known as “Food Loves Tillamook.” Being on set is a wild experience – it moves fast, there are tricks up everyone’s sleeve, and it’s a wildly creative environment. What is most impressive is watching how hard so many people are working to make Tillamook TV a huge success! Here are a few of my favorite take-aways from the shoot. Enjoy!

1. Food Glam Squad
The food used in our campaign is 100% real. But it takes a LOT of talented people to make it look delicious on screen. I call this team the Food Glam Squad. It was their job to find the perfect bread to accompany our cheese; a cauliflower floret that has flawless texture; the exact balance of chips, cheese, guacamole and cilantro on a nacho.

In this photo you can see the Food Glam Squad prepping the burger. There were many patties that auditioned, but here is our winner in ‘hair and make-up’ getting ready for its onscreen debut!

2. Location, Location, Location!
Not every TV shoot happens on a sprawling Los Angeles studio. Sometimes when you see a house, it’s actually a real house! That’s what we did for the Food Loves Tillamook shoot. We found the house with the kitchen, living room and outdoor space that worked best for our spots and rented it out for a few days.

Isn’t this house beautiful? This is where we shot the Food Loves Tillamook TV campaign.

3. Loaf thy Neighbor!
It takes a lot of highly trained, talented and creative people to produce a TV campaign.  Everyone from location scouts, to camera operators, food stylists, art directors, copywriters, stage directors, audio and recording technicians, and prop stylists. Here they are hard at work.

4. Concept to Reality
I’m sure everyone on set had an idea in their head what the spots would look like when it was actually shot. Here you can see how the Director envisioned shooting each frame of the campaign. You’ll notice that as the shoot progressed, the pencil sketches are replaced with actual photographs from the shoot.

Your new series of commercials are GREAT….must be if I took the time to look them up on the WEB! The potato(e) one is the favorite. These commercials rank right up there with the California Happy Cows series. Nice job and thanks for laughs. Yes, we already eat your Oregon T-cheese.

Thanks, Bill! We’re so glad you think they’re funny. Thanks for choosing Tillamook and for reading our blog!

Out here in Texas, I’m so homesick to be in Tillamook County, having grown up in Garibaldi.
Nobody here makes a grilled cheese sandwich like they do at the Air Museum there.

Hi Bill – sorry to hear you’re feeling homesick down there in Texas! I hope you’re able to find Tillamook Cheese nearby for a little taste of home!
