Tillamook is on TV!

Starting today, Tillamook is hitting the airwaves with a new TV campaign!

The TV campaign, which will air in select markets throughout the West, celebrates what makes Tillamook, Tillamook. It’s more than just great tasting cheese, ice cream and yogurt; it’s the heritage and standards that our founders established over 100 years ago, the farmer owners of today that will never lower the bar, and the food we make that brings people together to create lasting memories. That’s what makes Tillamook, Tillamook.

Texas Meets Tillamook TV Ads

Starting this week, Tillamook is hitting the airwaves in Texas for the first time! We are airing TV commercials to introduce Tillamook to the great people of Texas in a campaign called Texas meets Tillamook.

Texas meets Tillamook depicts a road-trip taken by two guys from Oregon, Luke and Dale, as they travel the great state of Texas in a Tillamook Baby Loaf Bus introducing the cheese that hails from their home state of Oregon.

A Slice of History: Only With Tillamook Cheese

Only with Tillamook would I make my scalloped dishes! You don’t want to run the risk of “rubber-band effect” by using a substitute.

I really enjoy reading the copy of the old Tillamook ads. The creativity that went into the drawings and the copy just make me smile. In this particular ad, dating from the late 1930s to the early 1904s, we assure you that your scalloped potatoes will be at their best when made with Tillamook Cheese. We always made the most of every opportunity to share with the housewife (our primary demographic at the time) of how perfectly tasty Tillamook cheese is in their every-day recipes, a covered dish for their bridge club or something special for a dinner party.

The included Potato Puff recipe looks tasty, too, but only if it’s made with Tillamook Cheese! I don’t want to take any chances with the texture becoming like a rubber band!

A Slice of History: “Here’s what keeps us going!”

A vintage Tillamook Cheese advertisement from 1942

Here’s something brand new to the archives. Well, it’s old, but new to me! Thanks to the generous contribution of one of our fans, this 1942 ad that ran in Sunset magazine is now a part of TCCA’s archives. In addition to educating the consumer as to what made Tillamook unique and how it came by its “rich, racy flavor,” we also often shared recipe ideas. I’m not so sure about trying the salad mold, but the frankfurter sandwiches may be worth a shot!

A Slice of History: Cheddar With a Bite!

A vintage Tillamook Cheese advertisement

Here’s a fun promotional piece from our archives. I have no information on it, including its date. Although I do know that if published, it would have been in the late 1940s at its earliest since the Medium Cheddar Cheesewas listed as our rindless variety. Date and usage aside, the drawing is what caught my attention. The little wedge of cheese biting the man’s tongue reminds me of a little puppy playing tug-of-war with a chew toy. We sure knew how to get people’s attention!

Tillamook Ice Cream: “Better Than Everything”

If you could eat Tillamook Ice Cream every day, what flavor would you choose? I could never decide! Somedays I want Sticky Bun (it’s my go-to flavor), and somedays I just want some classic Old-Fashioned Vanilla. I’d be happy with any flavor!
