Two weeks ago we asked for help coming up with new song lyrics for our ice cream scoopers to sing when our visitors at the Cheese Factory order the 38 Flavor Ice Cream Tour. We were delighted with all the entries we got from all our fans who love their Tillamook Ice Cream. There’s lots of creativity and humor out there! But at the end of the day, only one new rendition would be the chosen one. So (drum roll please) congratulations to RANDY PATTERSON from Newport, Oregon whose lyrics to the tune of “When You’re Happy and You Know It” were selected.

Randy e-mailed us that he “was honored to be chosen” and that he is “a musician and serenaded my wife with the song” before he decided to send it in. Great job, Randy, on the fun, catchy and humorous new tune. Take a look at our scoopers performing Randy’s song at the Cheese Factory. Here’s a copy of his lyrics so you can sing along!

Dave Anderson, a 40 year veteran of Tillamook

Meet Dave Anderson, Whey Plant Shift Supervisor. Dave has worked for Tillamook for over 40 years, and all but six months of that has been in our whey plant. Can you imagine working at one place for 40 years? Dave is truly one of a kind when it comes to his work ethic. He’s a loyal employee and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Wondering what happens in the whey plant? The whey plant runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is responsible for processing the liquid from the cheese-making process (ever hear of curds and whey?) and drying it into powder. On average, about 700,000 pounds of liquid is turned into 77,000 pounds of sweet whey powder everyday!

The powder is considered a commodity, is sold to other manufacturers, and used in a variety of products. It’s primarily a replacement for white sugar in baking. Check out the ingredient labels on your favorite baked goods — more than likely you’ll see whey powder. It’s no surprise that Tillamook produces some of the world’s highest quality sweet whey powder — that’s why it’s always in high demand!

The Tillamook Cheese Factory is the only place in the world where you’ll find every single creamy, dreamy, delicious flavor of Tillamook Ice Cream! The 38 Flavor Ice Cream Tour is a multi-scoop mountain of all of our ice cream flavors, complete with a flag on its summit. When someone orders it, our ice cream scoopers serenade them with a special song (listen to our current song in the video above)!

We’ve been singing the same ice cream song for too long, and although we like it, we’re ready for a change. We need your help coming up with new song lyrics for our ice cream counter staff to sing! Does Tillamook Ice Cream inspire you? Then get out some paper and let lyrics flow like hot fudge from your pen!

    – Compete in our Scavenger Hunts on July 23rd at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. We’ll also have “Know Your Ice Cream” guessing games at noon, 2pm, and 4pm.
