It’s been a fun and busy month in the Tillamook online world! This past month we were busy grilling some familiar faces and Fans on top of grilled cheese sandwiches. And on Tuesday we launched a Facebook app that lets you all create your own Cheese’wiches. Have you given it a try? What do ya think? Share your Cheese’wich creations with us on our Facebook Wall.
The Loaf Love Tour is cruisin’ around Salt Lake City celebrating Tillamook Sandwich Week. You can keep track of their stops by following #LoafLove on Twitter. And to celebrate back-to-school, don’t miss our newest contest — What’s In Your Lunchbox? Win Tilla-Moos by sharing your favorite lunchbox tips and tricks.
I’ll leave you with some of my favorite Fan comments from August.
Have a great September!
From Nancy: ONLY TILLAMOOK makes my dog’s medicine go down! Thanks Tillamook!
From Rachel: I used to think I didn’t really like cheese. Turns out it was because I grew up on lower quality, “cheap” cheese. As an adult I discovered Tillamook and I LOVE it!
From Tiffany: My daughter sneaks your cheese! So cute! Thanks for making a product I feel confident with my daughter sneaking!
From Christina: Tillamook is my favorite!!! All I think about is Tillamook even when I see it and eat it, it makes me slobber :D Gross and very delicious =]
From Craig: My dog Rufus LOVES Tillamook Wild Mountain Blackberry Ice Cream!
From author and cheese expert Laura Werlin: Thx 4 the #cheesewich love. Nothing better than being on the cover of a grilled chz sand!
From @mirywhitehill: I’m in a love cube with @tillamookcheese. Just me and cube of cheddar.
From @thehollyjones: Coworker just walked in on me licking spilled @tillamookcheese yogurt off my shirt. #notatallembarassed
From @robcalibur: @TillamookCheese I’ll be seeing u in Roy, UT. The wife says you can stay in the basement if you bring some Special Reserve.
From @cybervenus: @TillamookCheese back in 1996 when I moved from my roots in Oregon to Atlanta, I used to have my mom send Fresh Oregon Salmon and Baby Loaves of your magnificent cheese. Thanks for a lifetime of keeping me cheesy!
In honor of National Ice Cream Month, we selected a true Tillamook Ice Cream lover to be our July Fan of the Month. We first “met” Lorie when she left a comment on a blog post about our Ice Cream Photo Contest:
“Boy! Would I ever like to send you a picture of this 69 year old grandma diving into a gigantic, heaping bowl of my favorite ice cream in the world: Tillamook Mudslide! If only I could figure out some way to get a massive carton of it sent down her to Austin, Texas! I have to wait 6 months until my semi-annual trip to Portland, at which time I eat several!”
Thanks for being our July Fan of the Month, Lorie! Hope you eat lots of Tillamook Mudslide on your next trip to Portland!
Q: How long have you been eating Tillamook dairy products? When did your “Loaf Love” for Tillamook begin?
A: I’ve eaten and liked Tillamook Cheese for decades. But my love affair began when I toured your Cheese Factory, and had a super-sized cone of Tillamook Ice Cream right there in your gift shop. OHHHHHH! I cannot describe the bliss! The most glorious flavor of ice cream that had ever caressed my tongue!
Q: What’s your favorite Tillamook product?
A: Without question, Tillamook Mudslide Ice Cream! I can’t get enough, and eat it obsessively when it is available! I live in Texas now, and lament bitterly that I can’t get your wonderful ice cream down here!
Q: What’s your favorite Tillamook Ice Cream flavor?
A: As stated above, I adore and crave Tillamook Mudslide: Super chocolaty ice cream with thin layers of chocolate shell (the kind that melts on your tongue) strewn all through and between. (For some, it might be a chocolate overload — but “overload” and “chocolate” have never co-existed in my comprehension. More! More!).
I confess that during my bi-annual trips to Portland, I always buy a couple of cartons of Mudslide and eat them all gone! I have been known to share, but my kids and grandkids have to race me to the freezer. I can take down a carton in a day – little bowls smuggled off to my room so nobody will actually see what a glutton I am. It’s just too voluptuous to resist! (I don’t do this with any other ice cream, by the way. And, of course, I repent at leisure later.)
Q: What are you doing when you’re not eating Tillamook products? What are your hobbies?
A: I write novels! I have four published novels in the Iron Rose series under the name of Lorie H. Nicholes. I have sleep-over dates with my 12 grandchildren, when we do all sorts of fun things together. I’m an artist, love to sew and design clothing, furniture, and homey things. I tell stories in costume to any group who wants me, in highly dramatic fashion (photo of this below: My Fairy Godmother persona). I enjoy carpentry, silver jewelry casting, and inventing stuff. Twice a month I teach Career Workshops for job-seekers at the LDS Employment Center. And I read 4 hours a day (most delightfully if I am also delicately licking spoonfuls of Tillamook Mudslide Ice Cream!). You can tell I’m retired, right?
Q: Anything else you want to share about your love for Tillamook?
A: You do make great cheese! I love the Mozzarella and Sharp Cheddar especially. Grilled cheese sandwiches on homemade whole wheat! Yum!
With summer weather finally here, ice cream is on everyone’s brains. What’s summer without a big bowl of Tillamook Oregon Strawberry Ice Cream? Or a waffle cone with Tillamook Marionberry Pie Ice Cream… or a scoop of Tillamook Old-Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream on top of warm, homemade pie?!
Now I’m desperately craving ice cream! Don’t forget to stop by the store this weekend to pick up some Tillamook Ice Cream for our Ice Cream Photo Contest (winner gets 12 free cartons of Tillamook Ice Cream!).
From Ron D: Loving the Tillamook Marionberry Pie Ice Cream I’m scarfing down on right now.
From Susan Y.S.: We are planning to go strawberry picking this afternoon to make jam and some sauce for Tillamook Oregon Strawberry Ice Cream!
From Patti S.: Yum yum!!!! I wish I was back in Tillamook enjoying your delicious ice cream!!! It’s the best ever!!! : )
From Candice D.: Send some down to us in sunny Tampa, FL. We are missing your ice cream!!!!! Thank goodness that Costco still has your cheese here though :-)
From Liz K.F.: I just celebrated my birthday with an enormous bowl of Tillamook Mudslide… the chocolate-tiest ice cream in the world, it’s incredible!

From @melissa_leah: Oh thank god. I have some Tillamook Ice Cream!
From @HitBoy_SC: Tillamook has the best ice cream. Period.
From @rhaen_: If I had the #StanleyCup for a day I’d take it to @TillamookCheese Factory & make them fill it with Mountain Huckleberry Ice Cream.
From @alwaysnwonder: @TillamookCheese too bad the carton of ice cream only lasts @mruncommonsense 2 or 3 bowls!

From Marian H.: My husband and I are expecting our first child later this year, and I’ve had some massive morning sickness along the way – providentially, the ONLY food that would consistently settle on my tummy was Tillamook Cheddar Cheese! =) The doctor approved (citing “real” cheese as a great source of calcium/protein), and so we ate DOZENS of pounds of cheese (purchased from Costco/our military commissary)! =) Just had to share… sure appreciate you!
From Melanie S.T.: Love the cheese, but your yogurt is out of this world…I have to drive over a half hour to get it at a WinCo, the only place that carries it here.
From Heidi S.: I love Tillamook everything, every morning my husband and I have Tillamook Yogurt for breakfast. It tastes the best and is priced right.
