World’s Largest Ice Cream Sundae

Ice Cream

Who doesn’t love an ice cream sundae? With all that hot fudge running over the cold sweet ice cream and a cherry on top to boot, it’s no wonder people have been trying to make the world’s largest sundae for decades!

In 1963 these cute Little Miss Universe contestants devoured a gigantic floating sundae while swimming in a pool. Swimming while eating? Didn’t our mothers tell us never to do that?

Ever since then, the sundaes have been getting bigger and bigger. According to Guinness World Records, the world’s longest ice cream sundae was set in Wyandotte, Kansas. It featured over 275 pounds of ice cream, 30 pounds of chocolate syrup, and 12 pounds of cherries. That sure could feed a lot of ice cream lovers!

Here at Tillamook, we may not have a sundae half the length of a football field but we do our best to help you compete! If you’re feeling up to the challenge, try the Tillamook Ice Cream Adventure. With one scoop of every single Tillamook Ice Cream flavor and a flag on top, you’re sure to satisfy everyone’s ice cream tastes. For a little inside “scoop,” upon ordering you’ll be serenaded with a special song. Let the sundae feasting begin!

Ice Cream Sundae

Yippee! School’s out!!! We can’t think of a better way to start summer vacation than with a special Tillamook Ice Cream sundae created just for June.

This month’s special is our Caramel Delight Sundae. To start we take our very popular Caramel Toffee Crunch Ice Cream, which is loaded with chocolate chips, toffee pieces, coconut, and nuts, and mixed with a gooey caramel swirl. Then we top it with even more soft, sweet caramel and add whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. But wait – there’s more! We also put two pieces of Heath Bar English Toffee fudge on your sundae. Nothing could be more decadent. What a great treat to give yourself after working hard all year in school. Our special runs all month – come get one for only $3.95!

Are sundaes not your thing? How about a thick, creamy milkshake? Stop by the Tillamook Cheese Factory on Thursday, June 19 to celebrate National Vanilla Milkshake Day with us. Choose your favorite Tillamook Vanilla Ice Cream: is it Vanilla Bean? French Vanilla? Or classic Old Fashioned Vanilla? We’ll whip it up with fresh, cold milk and voila – you’re ready for a vanilla party. And we’ll even take $1.00 off that Vanilla shake for you.  When we celebrate, we do it right!

So come on out to the Tillamook Cheese Factory – er, we mean the Tillamook Sundae and Milkshake Factory. We look forward to seeing you and your ice cream sweet tooth there!

Tillamook Ice Cream Bucket Garden

A tomato and a cayenne pepper growing in Tillamook Ice Cream Buckets!

Do you have a yard that gets a lot of sun, but doesn’t have the space for gardening? If that’s the case you have to get a little creative to have a garden. Fortunately, Tillamook can help with a creative and affordable solution for you. Tillamook three gallon ice cream buckets can help you get started!

  • Get some Tillamook 3 gallon ice cream buckets at the Cheese Factory for just 50 cents each (note that availability does fluctuate so make sure to call before you go if you are making a special trip just for ice cream buckets: 1-855-LOAFLOVE [1-855-562-3568]).
  • Drill a few drainage holes in the bottom
  • Put some pebbles or some other material in the bottom of the buckets that will allow for good drainage (so the holes don’t clog!)
  • Add some soil and start planting!

Peppers, I found, work especially well in Tillamook Ice Cream buckets because they don’t mind when the soil dries out. In fact, they seemed to like it! What would you try growing in a Tillamook Ice Cream bucket?

Tillamook Ice Cream: Tastes Better Because It’s Made Better

Nothing beats the fresh, creamy taste of Tillamook Ice Cream. Here at the Co-op we have a little saying: “Tastes Better because it’s Made Better” and we believe that’s the case for all our dairy products. So how is Tillamook Ice Cream made better?

Tillamook Ice Cream is made from the highest quality milk from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones*. Our dedication to quality milk means only the best ingredients are used in Tillamook Ice Cream. We also whip less air into our ice cream. Quality ingredients and less air make our ice cream creamier, richer, and helps us win lots of awards!

Being an Oregonian, one of my favorite things about Tillamook Ice Cream is that we use real Oregon berries and other Northwest ingredients. Tillamook Oregon Strawberry and Marionberry Pie Ice Cream are perfect examples.

To learn more about how Tillamook Ice Cream is made (and to try all the flavors!) visit us at the Tillamook Cheese Factory!

What’s your favorite part of Tillamook Ice Cream?

*The FDA has stated that no significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST treated and non-rBST treated cows.
