The Loaf Love Tour is Getting Ready to Hit the Road Again!

The Loaf Love Tour is getting ready to hit the road this spring – we know you’re cheesin’ right now! Wondering where we’re going? Here’s a sneak peek at the cities we’ll be visiting this spring. Can you guess where the tour will be stopping this year!?

What is that in the back ground? Grab your wind breakers and hats! Just East of this infamous Island is the iconic bridge for this city.

This southern region is known for its delicious barbeque (which goes great with Tillamook Cheese!) as well as its famous football team.

Grab your cowboy boots and your hat! The heart of this city’s downtown is near the River Walk, which is full of shops, restaurants, and night life.

What goes with this famous restaurant’s hot dogs in this city? Tillamook Cheese of course!

The photo says it all!

See you soon!

Exploring the Emerald City – Yum Style!

With our last week upon us here in Seattle, we realized we couldn’t leave without documenting our experience here, and of course capturing some of the quintessential Seattle photos. Seattle has been very good to us, with a ton of die hard cheesy fans and great experiences for us brand ambassadors on the Loaf Love Tour.

There are several things you cant leave the west side without experiencing, like Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, Alki Beach, the waterfront, delicious food and live music, just to name a few. We took our baby loaf bus around to some of the hot spots for photos and in true Tillamook fashion, we were swarmed with fans at every stop. Our first stop was Seattle Center for the largest Seattle icon, the Space Needle. Next we visited the water front and snapped photos with the fountains and the new staple of the piers, the ferris wheel. We scurried up a block to the Pike Place Market, then mosied our way through the usual hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle towards West Seattle. Let me tell you, those downtown Seattle hills are quite the ride in a shortened VW bus!

Once in West Seattle we were able to get a few pictures with the bus in front of the whole cityscape and the water. Something about that Medium Cheddar orange makes it really pop in front of the blue of the bay. Heading back through downtown we stopped for a few pictures in front of the stadiums, where we had a nice little chat with the construction workers! Apparently they are die-hard Sharp Cheddar fans…who knew! Finishing up for the day, we decided it was bath time and took the baby loaf bus over to the Elephant Super Car Wash, and of course had to grab a picture with their cute little pink elephant sign. Photo day was definitely a success!

While we are sad to leave our neighboring metropolitan of Seattle to head back to Portland, we are so happy to have been able to spend such quality time in a city that has so much to offer. We had beach days at Alki, toured Beautiful Woodinville, had the fluffiest of beignets at Lola, saw the fish throwing at the market, enjoyed views of the sound from the rooftop deck at the Hard Rock, smashed crab at the Crab Pot, and April Focheezy even saw Aerosmith live! We saw sunshine every day in Seattle for three weeks, and that is a beautifully rare occasion. We bid Seattle goodbye and send a cheesy thank you to Seattleites for letting us take over the Emerald City for a few weeks. Until we meet again!

Mad-libs for Cheese

It was hot, but it didn’t deter some people from coming to the zoo and trying some Tillamook Cheese!

This weekend, while at the Sacramento Zoo and in addition to the usual cheese samples, coupons and fun smile sticks, the Loaf Love Tour introduced a new game to everyone who braved the 108 degree weather! Tillamook Mad Libs about the day at the zoo. It is a fun and educational game that families can play with the kids and the prize was pretty awesome as well – a YEAR’S SUPPLY OF TILLAMOOK CHEESE! With that great prize, we had many fantastic entries, but there could only be one winner. Thank you to everyone who entered, we hope you enjoyed your cheese and smiles at the Sacramento Zoo!

Christina Spray was the winner of the year’s supply of cheese with her fantastic Mad Lib. I mean, who doesn’t love smiling monkeys and bite-sized Tillamook sandwiches?!

Are you ready for a “exciting” day at the zoo? Make sure you wave to the “monkeys” and they might just “smile”. Ask your “daughter” to take your “picture”, then smile and say, “Tillamook”! If that makes you hungry, nibble on some Tillamook Cheese or a bite-sized “sandwich”. Did you know that a “Red Panda” absolutely loves to eat “bamboo”? Have a fun day at the “amazing” zoo!

If you want a chance to win a year’s supply of cheese and live in Northern California, make sure you visit the Loaf Love Tour at the San Francisco Zoo on Saturday, 8.25 for your chance to get creative and win some cheese!

Farewell to my Cheesy Adventure!

Over the past few days I’ve been doing a lot of reminiscing of the whirlwind five months I’ve had on the Loaf Love Tour. I honestly cannot believe how quickly it has all flown by! I still remember arriving in Amarillo, TX at the beginning of March to snow flurries like it was yesterday!

I’ve been so lucky throughout this tour to not only do some really fun things along the way, but I’ve also gained my cheese family and met some great people! Like Till-Lyssa has mentioned before, this job really makes you feel like a cheesy rockstar and nothing makes us feel better than when super fans come visit you at a store because they knew you were going to be there! At one of my store days recently I was visited by two Tillamook-loving fans, mother and daughter duo Sheri and Stephanie! They were so excited to see the tour up close and personal – Sheri has been following Tillamook on Facebook and our blog for some time now! Her and her daughter loaded up on smile sticks, buttons, and of course Tillamook Cheese!

Although my five state, six month adventure is almost over, it’s bitter sweet. I’m looking forward to being back at home in Portland, but I am going to miss life on the road with my cheese family too. From the thrill rides in Dallas to exploring caverns in San Antonio to floating the river in Boise and everything in between, getting to know my crew throughout these months has been an amazing experience I will never forget, and has given me lifelong friends!

It’s been a great run and I’m so happy to have met and experienced everything! We have about a week left in Seattle so check the schedule and come say hi!

Bumping Sweet Tunes on the Loaf Love Tour

Our DIY sound system in the Baby Loaf Bus

There are a lot of reasons why I love my job. I love being able to travel and work with amazing people who have become some of my closest friends. Another favorite part of being a Brand Ambassador is driving around in our refurbished Baby Loaf Buses that are customized to look like a Tillamook Baby Loaf of Tillamook Cheese. These buses, that we call Yums, are the coolest vehicles that I’ve ever seen. The attention that we get from driving them never gets old. The Yums are complete antiques and they are also completely bare bones. They don’t have air conditioning, a heater, or a radio, but it doesn’t bother us.

We Brand Ambassadors are quite resourceful when it comes to the Yums. The Loaf Love Tour was in Texas for 3 months and let me tell you, IT GOT REALLY HOT! There are several things that we do to beat the heat. When driving in 100 degree weather, you must always tie something around your waist or sit on a towel because in that heat leather seats and khaki shorts do not mix. Since there is no air conditioning, we have found that when we tilt the small swivel windows just right and and open the side windows completely we get a pretty good breeze. The only problem is that unless we are in constant motion, it gets really hot. April Fo Cheezy and I also invested in handheld, electric fans that squirt water. Those have been invaluable to us in the hot summer weather.

One thing that was a little bit harder for me to get use to was the fact that the Yums don’t have radios. I love music and I love to sing and dance. Sometimes we have long drives to our stores and it’s really nice to have some music on our ride. Since it is summertime, we always have the windows open and it gets a little loud so just playing music on your phone doesn’t really do it. Since we are kind of cheesy MacGyvers we realized that when you place your phone with the speaker toward the front windshield, flip the metal ash tray up, string a rubber band through the ash tray and wrap it around your phone it makes a killer sound system. If you see us driving around town in our little orange micro buses you may see us rockin’ out and singing to such anthems as “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen or “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful” by One Direction. Believe me, we do not hold back either. We sing at the top of our lungs and I don’t want to brag, but our from-the-waist-up dance moves are pretty epic.

The Loaf Love Tour was just in Boise, Idaho and now we are in the great state of Washington and our first stop is Spokane. So if you’re in the Spokane area keep an eye out for the little orange micro buses, bumping sweet tunes with Brand Ambassadors rockin’ out. You will be in for a treat and we might give you an all natural delicious treat of Tillamook Cheese too! We’re excited to be in Spokane and we’re excited to move to Seattle in the beginning of August.

Till-Lyssa here, signing off. Stay cheesy Washington. We Loaf You!

Recipe Inspiration!

A passable doppelganger?

Here on the Loaf Love Tour our hotel rooms don’t usually have kitchens, but we’re surrounded by great recipes featuring Tillamook products. I was especially excited to find our new Tillamook Light Yogurt in Salt Lake City because it satisfies my sweet cravings without adding to my always-eating-out waistline.  The same day I spied our delicious Tillamook Light Yogurt on the shelf, I received our latest Loaf Love Tour recipe: Yogurt Dessert Parfait courtesy of Chef Keegan Gerhard.

If you’re like me, you eat with your eyes as well as your taste buds so I figured I’d see what hotel room “cooking” could do to satisfy my craving for this tasty looking recipe! One container of Tillamook Light NW Berry Patch yogurt, a crunched up granola bar, some fresh blueberries, a dollop of whipped cream and my special addition – a dark chocolate covered blueberry and I’m in dessert parfait heaven!

Granted, Chef  Keegan’s version is probably tastier, but if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I hope he likes it! Tell me, are there any delicious recipes in the Tillamook Kitchen that you take visual inspiration from?
