Meet the Tillatruck!

Nice and shiny, freshly painted Tillamook orange!

The time has come for the 2013 Loaf Love Tour to begin and for the Tillatruck to make its debut in Texas! The Tillatruck (or as the license plate says Yum 6) is the newest member of the Tillamook fleet of shortened VW buses. Only Yum 6 is not a bus, it’s a 1959 single cab truck. Our VW experts out there may notice that there are some differences between the Tillatruck and a standard 1959 single cab. (Besides the obvious fact that we cut out four feet of the center of the truck!) We have made some updates for safety and aesthetics in order to match the look of the other Yums. The turn signals in the front and rear have been updated to the later larger style. The rear fold down gates were custom built in the very early “Barndoor” style in order to allow a smooth surface for the Tillatruck’s stylish graphics. Yum 6 will be about 1½” longer than its predecessors. Cameron Johnson of VolksFab in Port Orchard, Washington is the fabrication master responsible for the transformation of these once rusted out and forgotten VWs.

The very first photo of the Tillatruck!

And why do we need another bus anyway?  The Tour has always been set up to expand with its increase in popularity. Each Daddy Loaf truck and trailer is set up to carry three buses.  We wanted to make sure that as many people as possible get the chance to experience the loaf for themselves!

So why a truck? Why not? The Loafster convertible was a hugely popular addition to the fleet and we wanted the latest vehicle to be a fresh variation to keep people talking about Tillamook Cheese.

Cut it out! 4 ft. of the Tillatruck now gone!

So get ready Texas!  The Tillatruck is coming your way this March!

Meet the other buses here!

The Loaf Love Tour is Getting Ready to Hit the Road Again!

The Loaf Love Tour is getting ready to hit the road this spring – we know you’re cheesin’ right now! Wondering where we’re going? Here’s a sneak peek at the cities we’ll be visiting this spring. Can you guess where the tour will be stopping this year!?

What is that in the back ground? Grab your wind breakers and hats! Just East of this infamous Island is the iconic bridge for this city.

This southern region is known for its delicious barbeque (which goes great with Tillamook Cheese!) as well as its famous football team.

Grab your cowboy boots and your hat! The heart of this city’s downtown is near the River Walk, which is full of shops, restaurants, and night life.

What goes with this famous restaurant’s hot dogs in this city? Tillamook Cheese of course!

The photo says it all!

See you soon!

Photos from the Road: Loaf Love in San Diego

I recently joined the Loaf Love Tour in San Diego to close out this year’s tour. Here’s a photo diary of the spaces and places I saw on the road.

I knew I arrived in beautiful San Diego when I saw this:

On Saturday, I joined the team at the San Diego Zoo, which looked like this:

At the end of a long day full of cheese sampling and smile sticks, we relaxed at Keegan Gerhard’s restaurant D Bar, where I ate this:

After an amazing experience watching the tour in action, I was sad to say goodbye to this:

Home Sweet Land of Tillamook Cheese

Our Loaf Love Tour is coming to a close, but there have been amazing memories and never-going-to-forget-them moments in every city we visited!

Who can forget getting pulled over by the police officers in San Antonio while cruising in our Baby Loaf Buses?

Dallas

Or the actual scary experience of living through a cheese-centered tornado in Dallas?

How about the yumtastic homemade Tillamook dinner courtesy of our broker in Salt Lake City?

And one of our extra special fans with more visits to the Loaf Love Tour than any other – James from Phoenix!

As great as this journey has been, we are all so excited to head home to Oregon where we can once again be in the land of all things Tillamook. Your Brand Ambassadors are looking forward to enjoying Hot Habanero Jack Cheese, Pumpkin Ice Cream from the Cheese Factory Ice Cream Counter, all the flavors of our new Light Yogurt, and most importantly a perfectly grilled World’s Best Medium Cheddar Cheese sandwich made with Mom’s special ingredient – lots of loaf love! It’s great to be going home!

Cheese So Yummy It Makes You Dance!

This week Noelle and I took on the challenge of capturing the best yum dance Orange County had to offer. If you’re wondering what a yum dance is, it’s the joyous reaction someone incurs when they eat a delicious piece of Tillamook Cheese!

We see hundreds of people every week, most of whom LOVE cheese. So we figured if there was a winning yum dance to be found, we could definitely find it at the Loaf Love Tour sampling kiosk! Megan and Casey took home the crown this week for their yumtastic, baby loaf juggling, dancing routine!

Dandy Andy’s Cheesetastic Voyage

Great sandwiches come from great ingredients

Being in the last stretch of the Loaf Love Tour, sometimes we Brand Ambassadors need a little boost to lift our spirits. I found my boost in a grilled cheese sandwich.

It all started a few weeks ago at the Los Angeles Zoo. I was one of the fortunate Brand Ambassadors who was working our Mommy Blogger event, but most importantly, I was a judge at the grilled cheese competition. At these Mommy Blogger events, families from the area come and enjoy the great taste of Tillamook cheese, play some games with the Brand Ambassadors, and most importantly, create their own grilled cheese sandwiches that are judged on taste, presentation, and creativeness. I was fortunate enough to be one of these judges. After 13 amazing grilled cheese sandwiches, I thought to myself, “I’m going to create the greatest grilled cheese sandwich in the history of grilled cheese sandwiches!” Thus gave birth to Dandy Andy’s Cheesetastic Voyage.

Ingredients
Tillamook Butter
2 slices of Tillamook Vintage White Medium Cheddar and two slices of Tillamook Sharp Cheddar
2 slices of bread – any kind will do, but I chose French bread
Guacamole. Freshly made or bought at a store. I chose to make my own guacamole using 1 avocado, half of a small onion, half of a tomato, LOTS of jalapenos, salt & pepper, some Chili powder and cayenne pepper, and a pinch of cumin.
About 4 ounces of chicken breast, cut into small slices
4 pieces of bacon

Directions
First, you want to bake the chicken until it is done, and cut it up in little chunks. Next, cook the bacon until it is crispy enough to your likings. Now it is time to spread the outsides of the bread with delicious Tillamook butter, none of that 65% vegetable margarine stuff. Spread the insides of the bread with the guacamole. Add two slices of Tillamook Vintage White Medium Cheddar to one side of the bread and two slices of Tillamook Sharp Cheddar to the other side. Add the chicken and bacon, and away we go. Grill each side of this perfect sandwich on medium heat for about 3 to 4 minutes per side, and your grilled cheese sandwich should look similar to this deliciousness:

I loaf this cheesetastic combination

This sandwich has everything: protein from the meat, healthy fats from the avocado, carbs from the bread for energy, and of course the scrumptiousness of Tillamook’s all natural cheeses. Just look how happy I am as I take a bite of this delicious sandwich!

A mouthful of awesomeness!

If you are ever in a need of a pick-me-up and want a meal that has been defined as a-mouth-full-of-awesome, I’d definitely recommend Dandy Andy’s Cheesetastic Voyage.
