Ode to Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream
 

November is National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month! And OHHHH how I love peanut butter! In honor of my favorite Tillamook Ice Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter, I wrote a little love note that I thought I would share with you!

Oh, Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream
You weave your way through my wildest dream
Your ribbons of thick creamy nuttiness
Make me want to run and jump with happiness

You touch my soul
As I admire you in my bowl
After I rob the container of the thick waves of peanut butter
I sit and listen to everyone else mutter

Oh, Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream
You do more than just fill my tummy
You make me positively beam!

Happy Peanut Butter Lovers Day!
 

One day as my wife and I were walking through the freezer aisle of our local grocery store, we stopped in front of the Tillamook Ice Cream display. So many great flavors to choose from – Marionberry Pie, Oregon Strawberry, Udderly Chocolate, Cookie Dough and the list goes on – but one flavor stood out to my wife, Chocolate Peanut Butter. Before this fateful day, I’m not sure that I had ever had chocolate peanut butter ice cream, so I said, “Sure. If that’s what you want.” I don’t particularly care for chocolate ice cream as I find it too rich, but obliged my wife’s craving on this day. And what I found was another good choice by my wife (she’s so smart)!

We returned home, opened the container and scooped out a couple dollops. The ribbon of peanut-buttery goodness just below the layer of the chocolate excited us both. I let her take the first bite to see what her reaction was (she doesn’t really crave ice cream, so I thought her to be a good judge). Immediately her face lit up, and she opened her mouth to expose a half eaten nibble of ice cream so that she could say, “Oh my gosh! That is sooo good. Try it!” I had a similar reaction. The peanut butter melts in your mouth while the chocolate swims from taste bud to taste bud adding the perfectly sweet contrast to the slightly salty peanut butter. Perfection. Absolute perfection.
