Hot Rods & Tasty Cheese

Cars and cheese go together like…cows and grass! The Tillamook Loaf Love Tour drives pretty righteous Vdubya shorties, and we just can’t stop ourselves from checking out classic car shows, like the Hot Rods and Classics Cruise-in at Westgate City Center in Glendale, Arizona on February 12.  If you’re in the area and your engine’s revving, then you have to come out to this event! From novice gawker to know-it-all gearhead, everyone is welcome at this fun, family-friendly outing where hundreds of classic cars and hot rods will be on display for your drooling pleasure. The price is free (not for the cars – that would be too amazing –  but for entering)!

Just a stone’s throw away, your friendly Tillamook Loaf Love Tour will be kickin’ it at the Westgate Farmers Market in Glendale on the same day! If you’ve never seen the Loaf Love Tour, WHOA, you’re in for a treat of cheismic (seismic, if you don’t speak cheese) proportions! Come check out our classic, refurbished VW buses and get your pallet ready to sample our award-winning cheeses. Learn more about Tillamook Cheese while you support your local farmers and merchants!

Feelin’ the Loaf in Arizona

To sum up our kick off of The Loaf Love Tour at the Phoenix Zoo: It was a blast!

I had no idea how much people from Arizona loved, er, “loafed” us! Story after story poured in as people sampled our cheese — families sharing how they had visited the Tillamook Cheese Factory, grew up on our products, and discovered us and fell in love one way or another.

We had fans who dressed up in homemade Tillamook shirts and colors – one family even had a wee one in a “baby loaf” designed t-shirt! We also gave out cheese samples to a number of “animals”… lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! The zoo does a great job face painting the kids.

The Phoenix Zoo employees were a ton of fun, and we had volunteers and workers excited to eat Tillamook Cheese and take pictures together by our new Loafster. The Loafster has quite the following now; crowds of people wanted to be around it!

As the day drew to an end and the zoo started closing, people were sampling our cheese and putting on our “Loaf” buttons with huge grins while telling us “goodbye” and “thank you.” I would definitely call the day a success — with cheese in the mouths of thousands of people who love Tillamook!

Top 10 Fan Comments of the Week

What a whirlwind of a week in the Tillamook online world! This past Monday, we launched our brand new Tillamook.com website (the one you’re looking at right at this very moment!). Have you had time to explore it? What do you think? We’ve also been celebrating our new website with fun giveaways (free cheese!). Have you had the chance to play our Cheese IQ Quiz yet? There’s a question about me, Loafy, in the quiz!

Happy weekend to everyone!

Facebook:

From Heather B.: My niece, nephew and I had a great time at the zoo today. Thanks for the tickets!! We enjoyed the samples and buttons and took lots of “cheesy” pictures.

From Charlotte C. (about our new Cheese IQ Quiz): That was FUN! And thanks so much for the question on squeeking cheese curds – I’ve actually always wondered why they did that, and now I know! :)

From Collin P.: Today, as I was running some errands at my neighborhood’s local Fry’s grocery store (Tempe, AZ). I was pleasantly, and enthusiastically, greeted by Noel and Andrea. During this warm and bright encounter I conveyed to them my undying love for Tillamook Sharp Cheddar Cheese! Thank you for sending them out to share the joy of Tillamook. They did a wonderful job: great smiles, teaching some more history of the people who produce Tillamook Cheese, and telling me of various other ways to use the product beyond what I presently use it for. They were also kind enough to let me try and capture my personal enthusiasm for Tillamook on video in hopes to let you all know what a wonderful job you do… also I constantly tell other people of your superior product and that it would be well with them to use/experience it!

From Lorna V.: Tillamook cheese could make cardboard taste fantastic! So putting it on a croissant must rock!

From Pamela B. (see above photo): Hello, I’m a native Oregonian out in Boston’s big snow storm right now… this little guy came back home with me after the holidays- just wanted to let you know he’s keeping warm in the snowpocalypse.
