Double Sided Crayons

It’s back to school time which means loads of school supply shopping. I’ve been making progress on the school lists, loading up on pencils, lined paper and markers, but I recently came across double sided crayons. They’re the kind with blue on one end and green on the other, but what really got me thinking was the red and orange combo. I think about cheese a lot so it didn’t take long for me to envision a Sharp Cheddar and Medium Cheddar combo loaf. Think about all the combinations there could be! Extra sharp on one end for say, the parents and Medium Cheddar on the other for the kids. What about half Hot Habanero Jack for the spice lover mixed with Monterey Jack for the less adventurous or a cheese spread option with half Smoked Black Pepper White Cheddar and half Garlic Chili Pepper Cheddar? The options may truly be endless.

Sure, when you get down to logistics, the idea doesn’t really work. What happens when the Sharp Cheddar lover eats faster than the Medium Cheddar eater? You’d end up with a lot of one kind and not enough of the other! Why is it that the ideas with all the fun and sparkle never seem practical? But, then I realized, Tillamook has already solved this problem. They’ve given us the fun and magic of having two cheeses at once in Colby Jack Cheese. It’s equal parts buttery Colby marbeled with smooth Jack cheese! A mixture of white and orange that’s infinitely tastier than any of those fun double sided crayons. What’s even better, Colby Jack comes in individual sizes, perfect for any school lunch box!
