Recipe Inspiration!

A passable doppelganger?

Here on the Loaf Love Tour our hotel rooms don’t usually have kitchens, but we’re surrounded by great recipes featuring Tillamook products. I was especially excited to find our new Tillamook Light Yogurt in Salt Lake City because it satisfies my sweet cravings without adding to my always-eating-out waistline.  The same day I spied our delicious Tillamook Light Yogurt on the shelf, I received our latest Loaf Love Tour recipe: Yogurt Dessert Parfait courtesy of Chef Keegan Gerhard.

If you’re like me, you eat with your eyes as well as your taste buds so I figured I’d see what hotel room “cooking” could do to satisfy my craving for this tasty looking recipe! One container of Tillamook Light NW Berry Patch yogurt, a crunched up granola bar, some fresh blueberries, a dollop of whipped cream and my special addition – a dark chocolate covered blueberry and I’m in dessert parfait heaven!

Granted, Chef  Keegan’s version is probably tastier, but if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I hope he likes it! Tell me, are there any delicious recipes in the Tillamook Kitchen that you take visual inspiration from?

Introducing Tillamook Light Yogurt

Light Yogurt

For the last two years Tillamook has been making and trying, and making and trying…and making and trying different recipes of light yogurt. You may ask – well, what took so long?! When we set out to make a light yogurt we wanted to stay true to our brand promise and provide your family with a product made in the most natural way possible. So, we used no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no artificial sweeteners and no high fructose corn syrup in our recipe. Using Truvia® sweetener, along with other natural sugar substitutes, we were able to finally create 6 ounces of the highest quality, best tasting light yogurt – maybe even giving our award-winning cheeses a run for their money (we’ll let you be the judge)!

Perfection sometimes takes time and we are confident you will love the new Light Yogurt available in some of your favorite flavors:

· Oregon Strawberry

· Vanilla Bean

· Marionberry

· Raspberry

· Peach

· Mountain Huckleberry

· Northwest Berry Patch

· Pomegranate Blackberry

· Lemon Squeeze

· Dark Cherry

Tillamook Light Yogurt will be on shelves at major grocery stores in Oregon and Washington throughout the next few months. Stay tuned to Tillamook.com, and the Loaf Life Blog, for updates on when you can find Tillamook Light Yogurt in additional states at a grocery store near you.

If you have tried the Light Yogurt, we’d love to hear from you! Follow us on Facebook or Twitter and share the love, or just leave a comment below. Thank you!

Tillamook Yogurt: Tastes Better Because It’s Made Better

Adorable little girl eating delicious Tillamook Raspberry Yogurt

If you’ve ever tried Tillamook Yogurt you know that it tastes better, but how is Tillamook Yogurt actually made better?

Well, in most cases people don’t like hearing the word “NO”. However, I think we found the exception! When it comes to Tillamook Yogurt, you’re going love hearing the word “NO”…

NO artificial colors or flavors
NO artificial sweeteners
NO high-fructose corn syrup
NO artificial growth hormones
YES delicious!

You might remember from our last conversation about how Tillamook Cheese is “made better,” that Tillamook is committed to only using the highest quality milk from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones*.

Tillamook Yogurt is no exception.

The same quality milk standards used for our award winning cheeses are also used to make our delicious yogurt (and the rest of our dairy products, for that matter).

It’s simple! Our 21 delicious flavors of Tillamook Yogurt are “made better” because we take out the unnecessary “stuff” you don’t want (aka: artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners) and put in the great tasting natural ingredients (aka: vanilla beans, real berries, yogurt cultures) you do want!

Tell us what your favorite “made better” Tillamook Yogurt flavor is!

Watermelon….The New Breakfast of Champions?

Tillamook Watermelon Yogurt

I feel pretty fortunate to have grown up in Oregon, home to the world famous Hermiston watermelon. These watermelons are some of the best stuff on earth! They are run-down-your-cheeks juicy, extra crisp, and full of flavor. Growing up (and even now, who am I kidding?) watermelons were a summertime staple. As a kid I would try to eat watermelon for breakfast. Generally I could get a slice or two down before my Mom would notice and replace the oh-so-juicy watermelon with a bowl of oatmeal or toast. You can image my excitement when I learned Tillamook would be making a watermelon yogurt, because it meant that wonderful, sweet watermelon flavor would be enjoyed all hours of the day, and at every meal.

Tillamook Test Kitchen: Frozen Yogurt Pops

Frozen Yogurt Pops

Frozen Yogurt Pops made with Tillamook Yogurt

Here’s an idea for a refreshing, healthy summertime treat – Frozen Yogurt Pops made with Tillamook Yogurt! For a creamier Frozen Yogurt Pop, use straight up yogurt (pick your favorite Tillamook flavor!). For a less-creamy Frozen Yogurt Pop, mix 50/50 lemonade or juice with the yogurt,  pour into popsicle forms, and then stick them in the freezer for a few hours.

Which Tillamook Yogurt will you use to make a Frozen Yogurt Pop?

Life’s Just Peachy With Peach Yogurt

Peach Yogurt

Peach yogurt is one of my all-time favorite yogurt flavors. It makes me feel happy (peachy keen, if you will!) and reminds me of being a kid and playing at my friend Debbie’s house. Her family always had peach yogurt in the fridge. We’d jump on their trampoline, cruise around on banana seat bikes, dance around the house, and snack all day. Aww… warm and fuzzy memories!

What better way to celebrate National Peaches & Cream Day than with the sweet and smooth taste of Tillamook Peach Yogurt? A healthy, lowfat snack with a creamy texture and peachy-good taste. As with all Tillamook Yogurt, our Peach Yogurt has no artificial growth hormones, flavors, colors, or sweeteners, and no high fructose corn syrup. Mmm… anyone have a trampoline or a banana seat bike I could borrow?
