Tilla-La-La-La-Mook Holiday Song Contest

At Tillamook, we love this time of year! Great food, friends, family! Although, we’d like to mix it up a bit this year and add some Tillamook to the celebration. But not just by putting cheese on the table (that’s a given, right?!) — how about getting in the holiday spirit with a Tillamook tune that can join the ranks of all our other favorite carols?

Take your favorite holiday song and rewrite it Tillamook-style. “Deck the Loaf” maybe? Or, “Jingle Cheese”? Hmmm. I think we’d better leave this up to you! Submit your Tillamook-inspired holiday song in the Comment section below this blog post by midnight December 12th. We’ll announce 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners on December 13th.

Read the Official Rules.

I’m dreaming of a Tilllamook Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
    Where the Tree -Tops glisten
    and children listen
to hear cow bells in the snow.

I’m dreaming of a white (cheddar) Christmas
and on every Christmas Card I write
May your days be merry and bright
and may all your grilled cheese sandwiches
    be Tillamook.

    “O Tillamook”

    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
    How lovely are your flavors
    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
    How lovely are your flavors
    You bring me joy
    On taco night
    Topped with sour cream
    And Pepper Jack
    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
    How lovely are your flavors.

    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
You are the loaf most loved
    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
You are the loaf most loved
How often you give us delight
In brightly shining our dinner table light
    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
You are the loaf most loved.

    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
    Your textures will teach me
    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
    Your textures will teach me
That hope and love will ever be
The joy we feel when there’s a new flavor for us to eat
    O Tillamook, O Tillamook
    Your textures will teach me.

Sung along to the tune of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, this Tilla-la-la-la-mook Holiday Song tells the story of the award-winning Medium Cheddar Baby Loaf!

    Baby, The Tillamook Cheese Loaf:

    Baby, the Tillamook Cheese loaf
    Has a very cheesy tale
You see, it was made in Oregon
on the coast where winds are gale.

None of the other cheese loaves
In and all around the Earth
    Beat out this Medium Cheddar
Who won with all its yummy girth!

After aging 60 days, Baby loaf is done
Then, it takes it’s place in stores
Where it stands as number one!

    Baby, the Tillamook Cheese loaf
    Is the finest cheddar cheese!
You’ll even say, “I love it!”
As you shout out, “Bring more please!”

    Katie Moreau Says:

    * to the tune of ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem*

    “O Little Town of Tillamook”

O Little Town of Tillamook, how jerky is your beef.
Your waffle cones and dishes too all filled with ice cream deep.
Now in the dark night shining the cows all gently moo,
while making curd and cheese and milk
    vanilla and chocolate too.

**Note: Our family actually wrote this about 5 years ago in the car on the way to the Oregon Coast for our annual visit…just for something to do. My parents have been to Tillamook every summer for 30 years and my sister and I have tagged along as long as we’ve been alive; ) Love your products, and glad we finally had somewhere to share our vacation creation!**

    James Miller Says:

    God Rest Ye Merry Chedder-men

    God rest ye merry, chedder-men
    Let nothing you dismay
    Remember, yummy baby loafs
Make good gifts upon this day
To save us all from hunger
    Cravings and dismay

    O tidings of squeeeeaky cheese
    squeeeeeaky cheese
    O tidings of squeeeeaky cheese

    In Tillamook, in Oregon,
    The baby loaf is born
And aged with love and tenderness
all day and in the morn
    The quality and cheesiness
Did no one take in scorn
    O tidings of squeeeeaky cheese
    squeeeeeaky cheese
    O tidings of squeeeeaky cheese

From cows and from the farmers
    The yummy cream did come;
    And unto lucky patrons
    Brought tasty cheese by ton;
And if your fridge is empty
We think you should get some.

    O tidings of squeeeeaky cheese
    squeeeeeaky cheese
    O tidings of squeeeeaky cheese

    Tillamook Christmas Jingle Cheese/Balls

Here is my entry for the Tillamook jingle done to Jingle bells

    Dashing thru the snow
    And starving all the way
Just a few miles to go
    With cravings all the way
    My spirits are getting bright
    Now my homes in sight
Oh what fun it is to laugh and
    Sing my Tillamook song tonight
    Tillamook, Tillamook, Tillamook every day
You bring so many varieties for me to eat
    And what a tasty treat!
    Oh Tillamook, Tillamook
    Bring some cheese to me
With a 100 years of perfection that taste so great to me.
    Oh Tillamook, Tillamook
You mean so much to me
    Tillamook, Tillamook
the taste is perfect to me
Make my family happy every night and
Send a year’s supply for free.
    Merry Christmas,
To all of you at Tillamook that put smiles on our faces and for making delicious products.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
    Ev’rywhere you go;
Take a look at the Cheddar and Jack wrapped in special packs
With christmas wrap and special Tillamook bows
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
    Cheese gifts in ev’ry store
But the prettiest sight to see is the christmas tree shaped cheese
    Brick at home.

A loaf of Special Reserve and Hot Habanero Jack
    Is the wish of Mommy and Dad;
While Garlic White Cheddar and Garlic Chili Pepper
    Is the hope that we all have;
And we all can hardly wait for the cheese fest to begin.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
    Ev’rywhere you go;
There’s the big cheese pack online and the deli counter which we find,
Has everything everyone wants and more.
    It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
    Soon the family comes,
And the thing that will make them sign this christmas carol thing
    Is the Tillamook you bought.

I saw Mommy eating Tillamook Cheese
    Underneath the mistletoe last night.
    She didn’t see me creep
    Down the stairs to have a peek;
    She thought I was tucked
Up in my bedroom fast asleep.

Then, I saw Mommy melting Tillamook cheese
on top the counter so right
Oh, what a laugh it would have been,
    If Daddy had only seen
Mommy eating Tillamook cheese last night!

    As the shoppers rush home

    as we all munch

And above all this bustle you’ll hear

I’m Dreaming of a White Cheddar
Adapted from I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas by Irving Berlin

I’m dreaming of a white cheddar
Or maybe that mild Monterey Jack
All I want in my stocking
    This might sound shocking
Is cheese, Tillamook’s my favorite snack

I’m dreaming of a white cheddar
Sharp but tender as I slice
It’s so much better than fruitcake, that’s right
I’ll leave a grilled cheese for Santa on Christmas night

I’m dreaming of a white cheddar
But just a lump of Colby would do
Please stick it under the tree
I’ll know that it’s for me
Maybe I’ll make Santa a fondue

I’m dreaming of a white cheddar
Though I like all of Tillamook’s varieties,
Please don’t make me pick one tonight
Christmas morning, I hope I’ll be eating that vintage white

I have to have Cheddar in a hurry – Beautiful, don’t you worry
And Colby or I’m out the door – they’re quality to the core
My do their workers scurry – they close at 6 so we’d better hurry
Well maybe just a couple curds more – there’s also ice cream, by the front doors…

Grandma got ran over by the cow.

Grandma got ran over by a cow,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa we believe.

She’d been eating too many Cheese Curds,
And we’d begged her not to go.
    But she’d forgotten her toothpicks,
So she stumbled out the door into the snow.

When we found her Chrismas morning,
At the scene of the attack.
There were hoof prints on her forehead,
And incriminating claus marks on her back.

Grandma got ran over by a cow,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa we believe.

Now were so proud of Grandpa,
He’s been taking this so well.
Back at work in the barn,
Seeing him milkin’ the old Cow.

Now it’s not Christmas without Grandma,
All the family dressed in black.
And we just can’t help but wonder,
if we should use her toothpicks or put them back.

Grandma got ran over by a cow,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa we believe.

Now the Ham is on the table,
Could you pass some to me please.
It just wouldn’t be Christmas Dinner,
    without the Tillamook Cheese.

I’ve warned all my friends and neigbors,
    Better watch out and flee.
For a man driving a sleigh,
Chasing a cow to get some cheese.

Grandma got ran over by a cow,
Walking home from our house Christmas Eve.
You can say there’s no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa we believe.

Good King Wants-a-slice looked down, on the piece of Cheeses,

I saw Mommy eating cheddar cheese
Outside by our milk cow in the barn
    She didn’t see me creep
    to the barn to have a peep;
She thought that I was playing
at a friends house ‘cross the street
Then, I saw Mommy scoop some ice cream out
All the Mudslide and some Rocky Road
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
    If Daddy had only seen
    Mommy pigging out on Tillamook

To the tune of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”

    Walking around the factory,
    In a town called Tillamook,
People come from miles to see,
    Just how cheese can cook.

You will get lost in a cheesy moment, when you see
“Oh my goodness. Look free cheddar:
Don’t think it could get much better,”
    Walking around the factory,
It’s time to buy some food,
Cheese, beef sticks, and ice cream for me,
It can really lift your mood.

    Walking around the factory,
It’s sad when it’ time to go,
One last cow pic in the lobby,
And we’ll drag our feet real slow.

You will get lost in a cheesy moment when you see,
    “Oh my goodness. Penny smasher:
    Tillamook souvenir for me,”
    Walking around the factory,
    Out the automatic doors,
    Everyone’s waving goodbye to me,
    And my cheesy spirit soars.

    (O Holy Night)

    O cheddar cheese…your curdle is deliiiiight-ful
You are so mild…and so sharp when you age

    Monterey Jack…so creamy easygoing
Add some pepper…and spicy you are made

    Tilla-Moos…are perfectly so pleasing
And shredded melts while curds are made for squeaking

Fall on your knees…for cheese from coastal Oregon
O cheeeeeeeese divine…Tillamook – your cheese so fine
    Reduced faaaaat…colby jaaaaack…garlic white…I cannot fight
    Or resiiiiiist…holy swiiiiiss…cut me a slice…o cheese divine

    I don’t want a lot for Christmas

There is just one snack I need

I don’t care about the cookies

    Underneath the Christmas tree

I don’t need to eat a baked ham

    Basted with a honey glaze

Santa Claus won’t make me happy

    With candy on Christmas day

I just want a sharp white loaf

    Unwrapped and ready to go
    Make my tastebuds sing

All I want for Christmas is cheese

    Candy canes are hanging

    So spritely everywhere

    And the sound of dinner

    Cooking fills the air

    And everyone is eating

I hear silverware ringing

Santa won’t you bring me a stocking stuffed with cheese

Won’t you please bring smoked cheddar to me!

I won’t ask for much this Christmas

    I don’t even want cocoa

I’m just gonna keep on staring

    Through the factory window

I won’t make fruitcake and leave it

On the table for “Saint Nick”

I won’t even stay awake to

    Take a chocolate snowman lick

’Cause I just want some squeaky cheese
    Savory can be so sweet

    Put my mouth at ease

Baby all I want for Christmas is cheese

(To the tune of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree)

    Rockin’ around the Christmas cheese
    At the Tillamook Factory shop.
Tasty samples where you can see
    Everybody tries to stop.

    Rockin’ around the Christmas cheese,
    Let the Christmas spirit ring.
Later we’ll have some ice cream cones,
    And we’ll do more sampling.

You will get a cheese-essential feeling
    When you hear voices singing,
    “Let’s be merry;
Deck the halls with cows and dairy!”

    Rockin’ around the Christmas cheese,
    Have a happy holiday.
    Everyone’s snackin’ merrily
    In the Tillamook Factory way!
