Look sharp, fellow Pacific Northwest residents! Not to be cheesy, but we have some “grate” news- pun intended. For a limited time, Costco will be carrying our new Farmstyle Cut Shredded Sharp White Cheddar Cheese in a convenient two pack of 1.5lb bags – 3lbs total. It’s a new look, but we promise it is the same bold, luscious cheddar that’s been gracing your table meal after meal over the years. Instead of putting your time, arms, and effort into grating perfectly shredded cheese for all of your home-cooked meals, let us do the hard work for you. Our Farmstyle Cut Shredded Cheese is thicker and meltier than ever before, with more of that fresh-from-the-block Tillamook flavor packed into every piece.

But while time makes cheddar better, we’re afraid you only have a few months to grab this deal. Grab your Costco card and head to one of the warehouses on the map below to stock up on the new Tillamook Farmstyle Cut Shredded Sharp White Cheddar Cheese. It’s not the sharpest cheddar in the factory, but we guarantee you’ll never have a dull meal when you use our Sharp White Cheddar.

We’re not putting it mildly when we say these 3lb packages will sell out quick, so be sure to call your local Costco before embarking on any special shopping trips in the name of Tillamook Sharp White Cheddar. Why isn't it available in Warrenton?

Hi Stacey,

Good question! Costco decided which of their store locations they wanted to carry our new Sharp White Cheddar shredded cheese. However, if you would like the Warrenton Costco to start carrying it, I would suggest speaking to your store manager and requesting it. Please feel free to fill out our Product Request template, print it, and hand it to a store manager.

Thanks for stopping by our blog!

Hi Terrilee,

Please do! This special offer is only available in the Pacific Northwest and a couple other stores at the moment, but hopefully if enough people request it from their store managers then it will start being sold in more locations. I used this in some enchiladas the other day and it was pure cheesy bliss! We hope you get to try it soon!

Is the cheese coated with cellulose? I am on vacation and thought about having my husband pick some up/but only if it is uncoated and natural.

I just bought this at Costco in Eugene Oregon. I'm thinking about making homemade mac n cheese with it. Do you have a recipe online? I'll be using penne pasta and cream. Any suggestion on technique? Thank you.

Are your shredded cheeses gluten free? I know many brands add things to prevent caking and my son has celiacs.

Hi Michele,

Good question! No, we do not use cellulose in our shredded cheese. We do use a small amount of potato starch to prevent the shreds from caking together, as well as natamycin, a natural mold inhibitor. You can find all of the ingredients and nutritional information for all of our products on our Product page on our website. Just select "Sharp White Cheddar" to see the details.

Hi Angie,

You have come to the right place! We have an entire section for "Mac and Cheese Recipes" on our website. We also have a blog post entitled "Top 10 Mac and Cheese Recipes" for even more ideas. The first recipe on the list, The Every Day Mac and Cheese, is my personal favorite. I'm sure if you thinned your cream a little with water it could substitute for whole milk, and penne would be an easy swap for elbow mac and cheese. You can stir in the cheese to the sauce as the recipe suggests, but I personally don't. I lay all the pasta on the bottom, layer most of the shredded cheese next, pour the sauce over the cheese, and then add another small sprinkle of cheese on top of that. The heated sauce and baking will melt the cheese without having to stir it in but again, that's just my preference.

Let us know how it turns out!

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for asking! All of our cheese is gluten-free. We do add a little potato starch to keep our shredded cheese from caking, but it is gluten-free and we do not use gluten in any of our cheeses.

I hope that helps!

Hi Jennifer,

We're sorry to hear that, and apologize for any confusion. Costco is only carrying this cheese at select locations for a few weeks and did not choose to carry our new Farmstyle Shredded Cheese at their Beaverton location. We would suggest requesting this product from the store manager using our Product Request Template as they and their regional buyers decide which products to stock.

We LOVE your 5yr old sharp cheddar! Luckily sometimes we can get it at the Roseburg Costco, but not at the Eugene store😕.
This sharp cheddar makes the most phenomenal sauce when added to a bechamel. And you can imagine what a spectacular mac-cheese results!
This new introductory shredded cheese? I see you'll have it at the Roseburg Costco, but I don't see a date....

I live by Evanston Wyoming we have 2 stores Smiths food and Walmart, beings 80 miles from a coast of makes it very hard to buy your cheese. Do you see anything in the future about getting it to our neck of the woods, we buy this brand when we can get it but the small one's don't last us long and we are big cheese fans. Every day we eat cheese, a lot of shredded cheese with the stupid cellulose crappie is the best. I have plenty of that on my own,lol

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying our cheddar in so many different ways! This new Farmstyle Cut Shredded Sharp White Cheddar should already be in your local Roseburg Costco. Hi Ruth,

Sorry to hear you have such a hard time finding our cheese! At the moment, this 3lb saddle pack is a Costco-exclusive product. I don't know of any plans to produce a package larger than 8oz of this flavor for other retailers, but I will certainly let our Product Development team know that's something you would be interested in! If there are any other flavors you would like to try in the 8oz package, I would suggest speaking to your local store managers and requesting it. Store managers often work with their regional buyers to decide which products to carry. Please feel free to use our Product Request template (https://www.tillamook.com/where-to-buy/request.html) so your manager has your request in writing.

I hope that was helpful!

Hi Don,

Darn! Sorry to hear you couldn't find our Farmstyle Cut Shredded Sharp White Cheese at the Puyallup Costco! Did you happen to speak to your store manager to ask if they will be ordering more or restocking? It is possible they are sold out, but they also may have just needed to restock.

I'm having trouble finding any size of shredded cheese other than this new farm style cut, in the Puyallup/Frederickson/Graham/Lake Tapps, WA areas. Is this all you're selling now? It's a bit clunky for a one size fits all option.

Hi CD,

Thanks for stopping by our blog, and great question. Yes, now that we have introduced this thicker Farmstyle Cut we have stopped making the finely shredded cheese. Our Product Development team did discuss carrying both, but in the end we decided that we wanted to make sure we were always bringing our consumers the most high-quality product that we can. After some intensive product testing with focus groups and consumers, our Product Development team found that the larger shreds melt more smoothly and pack more flavor in each shred. Our Product Development team felt that it was an upgraded product that will help our consumers make even better meals. That being said, I will certainly share your feedback with them and let them know you prefer having a finely shredded option as well! This is a very new product, and we appreciate the feedback.

All the best,

I hate the new farmstyle cut so much, not only will i never buy Tillamook shredded cheese again, i’m so angry i’m never going to buy *any* Tillamook products again (and i’m a born-and-raised Northwesterner). I also don’t believe the marketing spin on this. For example, the large slices make it hard to evenly distribute (especially on nachos) and if you put enough on to try to cover gaps, you end up using more cheese than you would with finely shredded cheese. Your market researchers can’t be so dumb not to have realized that. Then, of course, is the typical change-for-the-sake-of-change that many established brands will do to try to attract attention and stand out from the competition. I actually have more trouble now with the cheese on nachos melting evenly. The statement that they “pack more flavor in each shred” deserves a huge eye roll. Marketing BS. Dishonest company.

Hi Hedy,

Thanks for your comment. We're sorry to hear you're disappointed with our new Farmstyle Cut shredded cheese. Our Product Development team put in a lot of hard work over the past couple years to develop this product. Based on feedback we’ve received from consumers, our goal with this new cut was for it to look and feel as though you had just grated it yourself by hand, fresh from the block. We talked to consumers and held some focus group testing and found that most of those consumers preferred the shred that’s thicker and packs more Tillamook Cheese flavor in every shred. That being said, we know everyone has their own preferences and I've already forwarded your comments to our Product Development team to consider.

Sincerely,

Sierra, of the Tillamook team
