Dive in and explore what's happening in our community!

If you’ve visited us at the temporary Visitors Center lately, or even just passed by, you’ve probably noticed some big changes since our last update! We’re excited to see the steel for the skeleton of the Visitors Center is in place, including the main canopy of the building.

The team is now working quickly to get the external wall panels in place and weatherproofed. These two milestones are huge as it enables internal work to continue in a dry, encapsulated environment which is crucial because as you might know, November in Tillamook equals rain.

Hi Molly,

The new Visitors Center at the Tillamook Cheese Factory is expected to be completed sometime in the summer of 2018. We don't yet have an exact date because it will largely depend on weather conditions this winter, but we will announce the opening date as soon as we know it.

Thanks,

Sierra, of the Tillamook team

Do you have an approximate estimate for month of the opening of the new center?

Hi Jim,

We are hoping the new Visitors Center will be open sometime in July, but much of that will depend on how quickly construction will be able to progress during the winter months with more extreme weather.

Will the old visitor center be open until the new is opened

Hi Ryan,

We are tearing down and rebuilding our Visitors Center in the same place so unfortunately the old facility is not open, but we do have a temporary facility available in the meantime. It is smaller than usual and because it is not attached to the factory you cannot see cheese being made or packaged, but there are still free cheese samples, an ice cream counter, a retail area, and a display demonstrating what life on a dairy farm is like. You can learn more about our temporary facility here:

Hi Sandy,

Good question! Yes, the Morning Star is still part of the Visitors Center. Fortunately we will not have to move or remove it during construction.

All the best,

Sierra, of the Tillamook team

Have there been any new developments? As far as when the new center will open? Just wondering, I'm out of state and would like to visit when it is finished.

Hi Samantha,

At this time, we are still expecting our Visitors Center to be complete sometime this summer. The exact reopening date will depend on the weather this winter/spring and how much progress our construction team is able to make. We'll share updates as they become available!

Thanks,

Sierra, of the Tillamook team
