Reducing Waste To Feed the Future

While we’re usually celebrating all the ways to enjoy delicious dairy, we also have a responsibility to take on the challenges that our food system presents to ensure a better food future for all.

Food consumption is growing at a rapid rate. The amount of people on earth continues to grow while our natural resources dwindle.

Growing the food we eat takes a lot of work and resources. To give you an idea, food production accounts for 70% of global water consumption, 20% of greenhouse gas emissions, and 40% of land use (WWF).

To top it all off, 40% of the food we produce gets wasted. Particularly during the holiday season, when we waste  three times as much food as usual.

Daunting? Sure. But there are tons of ways we can tackle these issues together.

Check out our three-pronged approach to reducing waste on our farms and in our factories, and learn how you can join us at the table!

This year, we’re turning food waste into an opportunity to do some good and we want you to join us!

Starting the day after Thanksgiving, we’re teaming up with No Kid Hungry in our fight against food waste and hunger by simply loving our leftovers, and encouraging others to do the same!

From Friday (11/23) through Giving Tuesday (11/27), just make a dish using leftovers (because we’ll all have ‘em!) and post a picture of it on social media. Include #LoveWhatsLeftover + @Tillamook, and we’ll donate $100 on your behalf to No Kid Hungry, an organization dedicated to ending child hunger.
