Grill up a delicious twist on a classic summer favorite with Tillamook's Chili Cheese Wrapped Hot Dogs. A perfect combination of savory chili, melty cheese and smoky hotΒ dogs.
Ingredients
For the hot dogs:
2 all beef hot dogs
1β2 cup minced onions
1β4 cup chopped green onion
2 top cut hot dog buns
For the chili:
1 lb ground beef 80/20
1β2 cup tomato sauce
1β4 cup tomato paste
1β2 cup beef broth
1β2 cup minced onions
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tbsp chili powder
Making the chili:
Cook the ground beef on medium high until it starts to brown. Add ΒΌ cup of water to help render the fat. When the ground beef is browned, extract the liquid and add onions and garlic.
Continue to cook the beef, onions and garlic for about 5 minutes or until the onions soften. Add tomato sauce, beef broth, tomato paste and chili powder. Season with salt and pepper. Lower heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
Making the cheese wrapped dogs:
Cook the hot dogs on a medium pan rotating often until the hot dogs are cooked through, about 3-5 minutes. Set the hot dogs aside.
Add half the cheese to the center of a medium high pan. Cook the cheese until the edges become crispy, and the center is bubbling.
Fold in two sides of the cheese blanket. Roll one hot dog with the cheese starting from on side moving down. Place the cheese wrapped dog in the hot dog bun. Repeat with second hot dog.
Add some of the chili on top of the cheese wrapped dog and garnish with both green and white onions. Enjoy!
