Snack
Hot Honey Cheddar Dates
This sweet, savory and a pleasantly spicy snack makes the most out of Tillamook Medium Cheddar Portions. Stuffing a gooey date with Tillamook Cheddar, coating it in a thin layer of hot honey and grilling it for just a couple of minutes until melty delivers an irresistible bite.
Ingredients
1 bag (7.5oz) of Tillamook Medium Cheddar Snack Portions
20 Medjool dates
3 thyme sprigs, optional
Hot honey, for drizzling
Flaky salt
Slice each Tillamook Cheddar piece into 6 short strips, widthwise. Pit the dates, split them open, then stuff 3 cheddar strips in each date.
Arrange 4 stuffed dates at a time on a skewer. Brush with hot honey and sprinkle a few thyme leaves on top, if using. Repeat with the remaining dates.
Place the skewers on a hot grill, cheese-side up for 2 to 3 minutes, until the cheese starts to melt, but still holds its shape.
Tip: Dates have a high sugar content, so make sure to keep them away from the direct flame which can very easily char and burn them.
Tip: Alternatively, place the skewers on a baking sheet and bake for about 3 minutes at 375°F
Season with flaky salt, drizzle more honey on top, and serve warm.
