Ingredients

For the burger patties:

  • 1 lb ground chicken

  • 2 tsp coriander powder

  • 2 tsp cumin powder

  • ⅛ tsp turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp chaat masala

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • ½ cup finely diced onions

  • ¼ cup finely chopped cilantro

  • 1 tbsp finely minced garlic

  • 2 tsp ginger, grated

  • 2 serrano chilis, finely diced

For the slaw:

  • 3 cups shredded green cabbage

  • ¾ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp chili oil

  • 2 tbsp sriracha

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • In a large mixing bowl combine all of the ingredients for the burger patties and mix well.

  • With oiled hands divide the mixture into 4 large balls. Place each ball on a heated oiled skillet over medium high heat.

  • Use a burger press or large spatula with parchment paper to flatten out the burger. Cook each side for about 4-6 minutes, until brown in spots and there is no pink remaining.

  • Place a slice of cheese over each patty until it is just melted.

  • While the burgers cook, combine all of the ingredients for the slaw and set aside.

  • Place the burger on a toasted bun with a heaping spoonful of cabbage slaw and enjoy!

    • Tip: The burger meat can be prepared a day ahead and placed in the refrigerator. Make the slaw as the burgers are finished cooking so it doesn’t get too soggy
